Eastern Railway advertised 3,115 Act Apprentice training slots for 2024–25, but applications are no longer being accepted. The online window ran from 24 September to 23 October 2024. The recruitment process later moved to provisional shortlisting for document verification, so this is a historical notice—not a current application invitation.
What the 2024 Eastern Railway notice offered
Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railway (RRC-ER) issued a notice inviting eligible Indian nationals to apply online for Act Apprentice training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992. The notice advertised 3,115 training slots for 2024–25. The slots were provisional and could change according to railway requirements. RRC-ER official website
These were apprenticeship training slots, not permanent railway vacancies or job appointments. Completing the training did not guarantee employment with Indian Railways.

What happened after applications closed
In a March 2025 update, RRC-ER said candidates had been provisionally shortlisted for document verification using the average of their 10th-standard and ITI marks. The applicable cut-off depended on the unit, trade, and category; there was no single score threshold for every applicant. Shortlisting was provisional, and final engagement depended on satisfying the eligibility criteria. RRC-ER official website
The Chairperson, Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railway / Kolkata, stated in the notice dated 18 March 2025: “RRC-ER will not confer any right to the candidates for their absorption/employment in railway after successful completion of training.” This makes the distinction explicit: apprenticeship training was not a promise of a railway job.
