What the 62% figure measures
Bolt Flight reported that Emirates scheduled 150 departures using its 615-seat A380 configuration in April 2026, down from 394 in April 2025. The outlet attributed its schedule analysis to Cirium Diio. The comparison is a count of scheduled departures by that configuration, not a count of seats sold, passengers carried, or every Emirates A380 flight. The same coverage reported a 43% year-over-year reduction in all Emirates A380 departures from Dubai in April 2026. That is a separate, broader measure; it should not be confused with the 62% decline for the 615-seat layout. The schedule reporting linked broader April changes to regional disruption, but the figures do not show how much any single cause contributed to the 615-seat aircraft’s decline.
Which routes still had the 615-seat A380 scheduled?
In April 2026, the reported schedule retained five routes for the 615-seat aircraft. Birmingham and Mauritius were reported as exclusively served by that configuration throughout the month. These are schedule assignments for that April, not a promise about later dates; airlines can change aircraft assignments.

What is replacing the 615-seat cabin?
Emirates is converting its two-class, 615-seat A380s into three-class aircraft with Premium Economy. The first completed retrofit, aircraft A6-EUX, entered service on Dubai–Birmingham, according to Emirates’ May 20, 2026 announcement. The updated cabin has 569 seats: 76 in Business Class, 56 in Premium Economy, and 437 in Economy Class. That is 46 fewer seats overall than the former layout, alongside a new cabin class and a different Business Class seat count. Seat totals alone do not establish how the change affects comfort, fares, demand, or profitability.

Emirates had announced in February 2026 that the first retrofit was expected to fly initially to Amman. Its May announcement documents the completed aircraft’s service entry on Birmingham instead. The airline said A6-EUX was the first of 15 two-class A380s it planned to retrofit and that it expected all 15 to be completed by the end of 2026.
