The cited Hagerty transaction is above the original base MSRP, while Hagerty’s displayed condition values and Marque’s median are lower than that single sale. These figures differ in date, sample and method. They should not be collapsed into one “market price,” and an auction result is not a promise of future appreciation or easy resale.
Does a sale above MSRP make the Demon 170 a good investment?
No. It is evidence that one specific car sold above the announced base MSRP—not evidence of a typical owner’s profit. A buyer’s starting cost can include destination, taxes, dealer charges and any premium paid over MSRP. To assess an actual return, compare the owner’s documented total purchase cost with net sale proceeds, then account for holding time and costs. A headline sale price leaves out both sides of that calculation.
