Is Boston Dynamics stock publicly traded?
Boston Dynamics does not identify publicly buyable shares or a stock ticker in its official FAQ. In response to “Can I buy stock?” and “Who funds Boston Dynamics?”, the company describes its ownership and says it “operates as an independent business within the larger Hyundai portfolio.” That is not an announcement that retail investors can buy Boston Dynamics shares.
On the ownership split, the FAQ identifies Hyundai Motor Group as holding 80% and SoftBank, through an affiliate, as holding the remaining 20%. The FAQ does not provide a public-market route to purchase a direct stake.
When will Boston Dynamics go public?
No IPO date or schedule appears in the official material reviewed, and the sources do not announce a public offering. The timing is unknown; there is no substantiated basis here for predicting a year or treating a rumored timetable as fact.

Hyundai’s July 2026 statement concerns ownership, not an IPO
On July 16, 2026, Hyundai Motor Group said its shareholders were pursuing the acquisition of SoftBank’s entire stake after SoftBank exercised a put option. Hyundai described the matter as under review through internal governance and approval processes under existing contractual rights and obligations. The statement describes a contemplated transaction, not a completed transfer, and says nothing about a Boston Dynamics listing. See Hyundai Motor Group’s statement.
Accordingly, the 80/20 split is the ownership structure identified in Boston Dynamics’ FAQ, while Hyundai’s later statement describes a proposed change. The cited statement does not confirm that the transfer has closed.
What are the ways to get investment exposure?

Hyundai Motor Group’s January 5, 2026 AI robotics strategy announcement described plans involving Boston Dynamics and affiliates including Hyundai Motor, Kia, Hyundai Mobis, and Hyundai Glovis. It discussed manufacturing collaboration, robotics commercialization, and a target to deploy Atlas at its Georgia metaplant by 2028. Those group-level plans provide context for indirect robotics exposure; they do not establish a Boston Dynamics IPO or make a Hyundai-related security equivalent to Boston Dynamics stock.
What does Boston Dynamics’ $1.1 billion valuation mean?
When Hyundai completed its acquisition of a controlling interest in 2021, Boston Dynamics reported that the transaction valued the company at US$1.1 billion. The company also said additional financial details were not disclosed in its June 21, 2021 announcement.

That figure is a historical transaction valuation, not a current company valuation, a current equity value, or a forecast of what Boston Dynamics might be worth in an IPO. The announcement does not provide a basis for deriving a prospective public share price.
