As of August 9, 2026, the cheapest new graphics card in the tracked U.S. market is Intel’s Arc B570 at $259.99. The best value depends on more than the lowest sticker price, however: an RTX 5060 costs $349.99 new, an Arc B580 costs $309.99 with 12GB of VRAM, and AMD’s RX 9060 XT 16GB is currently listed at $448.99.

Prices remain unusually high relative to launch recommendations, especially for cards with large memory capacities. Tom’s Hardware attributes the pressure to elevated memory costs and major AI data-center demand for memory. That explains the market environment reported by the source, but it does not mean every retailer’s markup has been proven to come directly from AI demand.

The figures below separate current new listings from historical lows and used listings. Tom’s Hardware’s broad tracker was updated August 6; the retailer snapshot from VideoCardPrices was updated August 9. Prices, stock, seller, shipping, and condition can change before checkout.

Best new GPU deals on August 9, 2026

Best use Graphics card Current new price Why it stands out
Lowest-cost new option Intel Arc B570 $259.99 Cheapest tracked new card; 10GB VRAM
Budget card with more VRAM Intel Arc B580 $309.99 12GB GDDR6 and a modest premium over the B570
Affordable Nvidia option GeForce RTX 5060 $349.99 New Amazon listing and Nvidia feature support
Best current 16GB listing Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB $448.99 Newegg listing; substantially more memory than entry-level cards
High-end AMD option Radeon RX 9070 $649.99 Below the current RX 9070 XT price
Faster high-end AMD option Radeon RX 9070 XT $719.99 Strong current listing, but $120 above its $599 launch MSRP
Premium Nvidia option GeForce RTX 5080 $1,299.99 Current Amazon listing, though above its $999 MSRP

These are not necessarily the lowest prices ever recorded. They are the most useful current new listings in the August 9 snapshot. The B570 is about $41 above its $219 launch price, while the B580 is about $60 above its $250 launch price. The RX 9060 XT 16GB has moved even further from its $349 launch MSRP, selling at $448.99 on Newegg and $469.99 on Amazon.

Lowest tracked prices for Nvidia RTX 50-series cards

Tom’s Hardware reports the lowest observed U.S. price, lowest-ever U.S. price, and launch MSRP for selected models. The current column is not a guaranteed checkout price on August 9.

GPU Lowest observed Lowest ever Launch MSRP
RTX 5090 $4,381 $1,999 $1,999
RTX 5080 $1,289 $929 $999
RTX 5070 Ti $989 $729 $749
RTX 5070 $629 $479 $549
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB $579 $379 $429
RTX 5060 Ti 8GB $429 $319 $379
RTX 5060 $349 $279 $299
RTX 5050 $299 $229 $249

The live snapshot puts the RTX 5050 at $299.99, the RTX 5060 at $349.99, the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB at $429.99, the RTX 5070 at $635.99, the RTX 5070 Ti at $949.97, and the RTX 5080 at $1,299.99. The RTX 5090 is listed at $4,598.90.

That makes the RTX 5090 the clearest example of why launch MSRP should not be treated as a current budget. Nvidia announced a $1,999 launch price, but the tracked new listing is more than $4,000. A direct-sale Founders Edition event can still offer MSRP stock, but that is not the same as normal retail availability.

Lowest tracked prices for older Nvidia RTX 40-series cards

GPU Lowest observed Lowest ever Launch MSRP
RTX 4090 $3,449 $1,599 $1,599
RTX 4080 Super $1,316 $902 $999
RTX 4080 $1,449 $949 $1,199
RTX 4070 Ti Super $1,299 $739 $799
RTX 4070 Ti $801 $649 $799
RTX 4070 Super $783 $560 $599
RTX 4070 $729 $489 $549
RTX 4060 Ti 16GB Out of stock $419 $499
RTX 4060 Ti $519 $329 $399
RTX 4060 $439 $259 $299

Older does not automatically mean cheaper. Nvidia no longer produces the RTX 40-series, so remaining listings can be scarce and may be used, refurbished, ex-mining, or sold by a third party. The reported RTX 4090 price of $3,449 is more than twice its $1,599 launch MSRP. If an older model costs more than a newer card with similar performance, its age is not a financial advantage.

Lowest tracked prices for AMD Radeon RX 9000-series cards

GPU Lowest observed Lowest ever Launch MSRP
RX 9070 XT $719 $599 $599
RX 9070 $649 $494 $549
RX 9070 GRE $529 $499 $549
RX 9060 XT 16GB $469 $349 $349
RX 9060 XT 8GB $379 $259 $299

The RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT are currently listed at $649.99 and $719.99. The XT is therefore roughly 20% above its official $599 launch price. The RX 9060 XT 16GB is available new for $448.99 in the current snapshot, making it the most accessible tracked new 16GB card, but it is no longer close to its launch price.

Lowest tracked prices for AMD Radeon RX 7000-series cards

GPU Lowest observed Lowest ever Launch MSRP
RX 7900 XTX $929 $749 $999
RX 7900 XT $949 $559 $749
RX 7900 GRE $979 $509 $549
RX 7800 XT $699 $429 $499
RX 7700 XT $409 $309 $419
RX 7600 XT $595 $288 $329
RX 7600 $259 $239 $269

The live snapshot includes a new RX 7800 XT at $599.99 on Amazon. That is lower than Tom’s reported observed price, illustrating why a dated tracker and a live retailer check can disagree. The RX 7600 is also shown at $200 on eBay, but that listing is used and should not be compared directly with the new $599.99 RX 7800 XT or other new-card prices.

Lowest tracked prices for Intel Arc cards

GPU Lowest observed Lowest ever Launch MSRP
Arc B580 $309 $229 $250
Arc B570 $259 $199 $219
Arc A770 16GB $472 $229 $349
Arc A750 $209 $169 $289
Arc A580 $199 $159 $179
Arc A380 $139 $99 $149

Intel’s B570 is the cheapest tracked new listing at $259.99, while the B580 is $309.99. The B580’s 12GB of VRAM makes it the more flexible budget choice if the extra $50 fits your budget. Older Arc A-series prices require particular caution because a low listing may not represent new, supported retail stock.

How to check whether a GPU is actually a deal

  1. Set a total budget. Include sales tax, shipping, a power-supply upgrade, and any required adapters. A $350 card that needs a $100 power supply is not a $350 upgrade.
  2. Compare like with like. Put new against new and used against used. Do not compare a $200 used RX 7600 eBay listing with a factory-new RTX 5060 without adjusting for warranty and condition.
  3. Inspect the seller. On Amazon or Newegg, confirm whether the retailer itself is selling the card or whether the listing switched to a marketplace seller. Check seller feedback, condition, warranty, shipping, and return terms.
  4. Check the model’s memory. The cheapest version can have less VRAM. For example, the RTX 5060 Ti appears in both 8GB and 16GB versions, and the RX 9060 XT does too. The cheaper card may age less well in demanding games or creative workloads.
  5. Compare against recent lows, not just MSRP. MSRP is a launch reference, not a promise of current availability. A card at $650 can be a good price if recent listings were $750, but still poor value if a faster alternative costs $20 more.
  6. Confirm compatibility. Check case length, power connectors, recommended PSU wattage, motherboard clearance, monitor outputs, and whether your CPU will limit performance.
  7. Use a return window strategically. If prices are moving quickly, buy only from a seller with a clear return policy. Keep the packaging until the card is installed, tested, and verified.

Why GPU prices are elevated

The current market is not simply a case of every card being unavailable. Tom’s Hardware reports that new GPUs are generally available, while the main problem is their cost. The August 9 snapshot shows new listings across Amazon and Newegg for cards from all three major vendors.

Memory-heavy products appear particularly exposed. The RTX 5090 has 32GB and is tracked at $4,381 versus its $1,999 launch MSRP. Tom’s explanation points to higher memory costs and large AI data-center orders competing for memory capacity. That is a reported market factor, not a reason to assume a retailer’s entire price increase is justified or permanent.

For a household budget, the practical response is to avoid treating a shortage narrative as a reason to overspend. Compare the performance tier you need, consider a card with adequate rather than excessive VRAM, and wait when a purchase is discretionary. A high price can be normal for the market and still be a bad use of your money.

Is the RTX 5090 really available for $1,999?

$1,999 is Nvidia’s launch MSRP, not the ordinary current retail price. The August 9 new listing is $4,598.90, while Tom’s August 6 tracker reported $4,381. MSRP-priced Founders Edition stock may appear in limited direct-sales events.

Should I buy a used GPU to save money?

Only after checking the seller, card condition, warranty, return period, mining history where relevant, and total cost. Used eBay listings such as a $200 RX 7600 or $899.99 RTX 5070 Ti are not directly comparable with new retail listings.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The Intel Arc B570 at $259.99 is the lowest tracked new GPU, and the Arc B580 at $309.99 is the more appealing budget alternative if you value 12GB of VRAM. For 16GB, the RX 9060 XT is currently the most accessible new option at $448.99. The RX 9070 at $649.99 is the standout high-end AMD listing, while Nvidia’s RTX 5090 remains dramatically above its $1,999 launch MSRP.

Before buying, verify the listing’s seller and condition, recalculate the full system cost, and treat every price here as a dated snapshot rather than a guaranteed checkout quote.
