MIHAN’s operational-unit register lists DRAL’s commencement date as April 18, 2018. Since then, the work has advanced from aircraft components to an announced plan for Falcon 2000 manufacturing in India, with a first-flight target Dassault set for 2028.
What happened at the 2017 inauguration?
A Reliance Group announcement published on October 27, 2017 used “inaugurated” in its headline. Its body says Dassault Aviation chairman Eric Trappier and Reliance Group chairman Anil D. Ambani laid the facility’s foundation stone that day. That distinction matters: a ceremony to mark construction is not the same as a factory beginning production.
The site is in Dhirubhai Ambani Aerospace Park, within MIHAN Special Economic Zone (SEZ), beside Nagpur International Airport. The MIHAN SEZ operational-unit register lists DRAL’s commencement date as April 18, 2018. The two dates therefore describe different milestones: the 2017 foundation-stone ceremony and the 2018 commencement recorded by MIHAN.
In 2017, Reliance Group described Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited (DRAL) as a joint venture owned 51% by Reliance Aerostructure and 49% by Dassault Aviation. Those percentages are the ownership split stated in that contemporaneous announcement.

What does the facility make?
Rafale-related components and Falcon 2000 parts
The 2017 announcement described an initial manufacturing scope that included Rafale-offset components and components for Dassault’s Legacy Falcon 2000 civil jet series. It also presented final assembly of Rafale and Falcon aircraft as a possible future step—not as a capability already operating at the facility in 2017.
Falcon 2000 cockpit sections from 2019
On February 7, 2019, Dassault Aviation announced that DRAL had produced its first Falcon 2000 cockpit front section. It was prepared for handover to Dassault’s final assembly line in France. This was a component milestone, not final assembly of a complete Falcon aircraft in India.

Expanded Falcon manufacturing agreement announced in 2025
On June 18, 2025, Dassault announced an agreement covering Falcon 2000 LXS manufacturing in India. The announced work transfer to DRAL includes Falcon 2000 wing and complete-fuselage assembly, as well as front-section assembly for the Falcon 6X and 8X. Dassault set a target for the first Falcon 2000 made in India to fly from MIHAN by 2028. That is a future target announced by the company, not a completed milestone.
Dassault said in its June 2025 press kit that DRAL had assembled more than 100 major Falcon 2000 subsections since delivering its first front section in 2019. The figure is Dassault’s reported production count as of that announcement.

How the facility’s milestones differ
| Date | Milestone | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| October 27, 2017 | Foundation-stone ceremony, described in the Reliance Group release whose headline says “inaugurated” | A ceremony marking the project; not evidence that factory production began that day. |
| April 18, 2018 | DRAL commencement date in MIHAN SEZ’s operational-unit register | The date MIHAN records for the unit’s commencement. |
| February 7, 2019 | First Falcon 2000 cockpit front section announced by Dassault | A component prepared for delivery to the French final assembly line. |
| June 18, 2025 | Falcon manufacturing agreement announced by Dassault | Planned transfer of additional assembly work and a company target for a first India-made Falcon 2000 flight by 2028. |
What the company announcements do—and do not—say about investment and jobs
Reliance Group’s 2017 release described more than €100 million as Dassault Aviation foreign direct investment. The same release anticipated training thousands of skilled workers and developing a supplier ecosystem involving more than 200 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Those workforce and supplier numbers were projections in the 2017 announcement, not verified employment or supplier outcomes.
In 2025, Dassault said it expected to hire several hundred engineers and technicians over the next decade. This, too, is a hiring expectation rather than a reported count of completed hires. The company’s reported production count and its hiring forecast describe different things: work already reported as assembled and employment anticipated in the future.

As of October 8, 2026, the available announcement establishes Dassault’s June 2025 target for a first India-made Falcon 2000 flight by 2028; it does not establish whether that target remains on schedule. Nor do the cited announcements provide an independently measured total for DRAL’s employment or local economic impact.
