There is no single best reconciliation platform for every business. FloQast is a strong shortlist choice for accounting teams focused on close workflow; BlackLine and Trintech Cadency suit organizations with broader enterprise control needs; Trintech Adra targets mid-market close and matching; and ReconArt is designed for high-volume, multi-source transaction reconciliation. If you have only a small number of low-risk monthly accounts, your existing ERP or a controlled spreadsheet may be enough.
This guide updates the 2024 comparison for buyers evaluating these products now. The products cover different kinds of reconciliation, and most do not publish a universal list price. Use the demo and quote process to test your actual data, control requirements, and total cost—not just a feature list or review score.
Start by defining the reconciliation problem
“Reconciliation software” can mean a balance-sheet certification tool, a bank-matching engine, payment-settlement processing, or a broader financial-close platform. Those categories overlap, but they are not interchangeable.
- Balance-sheet account reconciliation: Substantiation of general-ledger accounts such as accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll liabilities, loans, and intercompany balances.
- Bank and cash reconciliation: Matching bank statements to the general ledger or cash subledger, whether daily or at month end.
- Transaction matching: Comparing records one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, many-to-many, or across multiple data sources.
- Payment and settlement reconciliation: Reconciling processors, card networks, marketplaces, e-commerce, remittance, or travel settlements.
- Intercompany reconciliation: Identifying entity-to-entity differences, resolving disputes, and supporting eliminations.
- Close management: Coordinating checklists, task ownership, approvals, certifications, journal entries, and audit evidence.
Trintech describes account reconciliation across GL accounts, subledgers, bank data, multiple ERPs, and entities (Trintech account reconciliations). ReconArt positions its platform for high-volume, multi-source reconciliation across areas including banking, payments, retail, e-commerce, insurance, and manufacturing (ReconArt platform). Define the exact source-to-source comparison you need before asking vendors for a quote.

How the main product types differ
| Product type | Main value | Typical buyer |
|---|---|---|
| Reconciliation-focused | Matching, exception handling, evidence, and certification | Treasury, accounting operations, shared services |
| Close-management-focused | Tasks, checklists, deadlines, and sign-offs | Controllers and accounting managers |
| Full financial-close platform | Reconciliation plus journal entries, intercompany, governance, and analytics | Enterprise controllership and finance transformation |
| Data-reconciliation platform | High-volume data ingestion, transformation, matching, and settlement | Banks, fintechs, payments, and marketplaces |
| Native ERP module | Basic reconciliation within an existing accounting system | Smaller teams with simpler processes |
FloQast presents itself as an end-to-end workflow platform that includes reconciliation automation (FloQast and Trintech comparison). Trintech positions Adra as a combination of reconciliation, transaction matching, task management, and close functions, while Cadency targets large-enterprise financial-close processes (Adra; Cadency).
Shortlist by use case
| Product | Best fit | Core scope | Pricing status | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FloQast | Accounting-led teams coordinating close and reconciliations | Reconciliation automation, close workflow, rollforwards, journal-entry processes | Custom quote; no standard public price | May be broader than needed for simple bank matching, and less suited to highly specialized settlement processing |
| BlackLine | Larger organizations prioritizing standardized controls and auditability | Account reconciliation and broader financial-close automation | Custom subscription; 2024 filing identifies users and products as major pricing factors | Enterprise breadth may bring more implementation, configuration, and administration than a small team needs |
| Trintech Adra | Mid-market finance teams seeking matching and close automation | Account and bank reconciliation, transaction matching, task management | Quote-led; no simple public list price | Confirm package scope, reporting, setup effort, and performance with larger reconciliations |
| Trintech Cadency | Large, multi-entity enterprises with complex close and governance requirements | Reconciliation, matching, close management, journal entries, intercompany, governance | Custom enterprise quote | Potentially too broad and demanding to implement for a small or uncomplicated finance team |
| ReconArt | High-volume, multi-source and payment-related reconciliation | Data import and transformation, matching, settlements, exceptions, financial-close modules | Module-based plans; no universal public price | May require more configuration than straightforward GL certification needs |
| Existing ERP or controlled spreadsheet | Low-volume, low-risk processes with simple workflows | Basic bank or account reconciliation, depending on current tools | Incremental cost and capabilities depend on what the organization already owns | Manual work and weaker cross-system matching, centralized evidence, or exception controls may remain |
What to expect from each vendor
FloQast: close workflow for accounting teams
FloQast is a candidate when the priority is coordinating accountants through close tasks, reconciliations, review notes, and related work such as rollforwards and journal-entry preparation. Its March 2024 reconciliation automation data sheet describes reconciliation automation within that broader accounting workflow (FloQast reconciliation automation data sheet). FloQast says pricing is customized to organizational needs, scope, and scale; request a quote rather than treating a third-party estimate as a rate card (FloQast pricing).
In a demo, ask the vendor to take one reconciliation from import through reviewer approval, show an unmatched transaction and exception handling, roll a prior-period reconciliation forward, and drill through to the ERP source. Ask which integrations and implementation tasks require additional services.
BlackLine: enterprise controls and close breadth
BlackLine is most plausible where scale, standardized workflows, and control evidence justify an enterprise implementation. A BlackLine account-reconciliation document describes rules-based automation, role-based approvals, dashboards, reports, ERP or subledger imports, and multi-currency and multi-language support; verify the current edition and modules because the document is older (BlackLine account reconciliations document). BlackLine’s 2024 filing says subscription pricing depends primarily on users with access and products purchased, not a published standard per-user rate (BlackLine 2024 filing).

Ask how segregation-of-duties rules work, whether reviewers can inspect source transactions in the platform, and which products are needed for matching, intercompany, journal entries, and variance analysis. Request separate line items for implementation, configuration, integrations, reporting, and consulting.
Trintech Adra: mid-market reconciliation and close
Adra combines account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, transaction matching, and task management. Trintech says matching supports one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, many-to-many, and multi-way scenarios (Adra Suite; Adra Balancer). Its “quick to implement” and time-to-value positioning is a vendor claim; validate the plan against your ERP, data quality, and internal capacity.
Ask to compare Balancer and Matcher using the same sample files, demonstrate daily and monthly reconciliations, and set thresholds for auto-reconciliation. Confirm the proposed entity and currency limits and whether journal-entry automation is included or separately licensed.
Trintech Cadency: enterprise record-to-report
Cadency is aimed at complex, multi-entity and multi-country environments that need reconciliation alongside close management, journal entries, intercompany processes, and governance. Trintech publishes customer case-study results on its product page; treat any time or volume reductions as outcomes reported for those customers, not as a guaranteed benchmark for a new buyer (Cadency).
Ask for a demonstration of an intercompany exception across entities, global approval routing, and the resulting audit evidence. Request a phased implementation plan, migration approach, and module-by-module quote, and compare Cadency with BlackLine or OneStream at the full-suite level rather than on basic bank reconciliation alone.
ReconArt: high-volume and multi-source matching
ReconArt is worth evaluating when reconciliation requires substantial data transformation, payment or remittance matching, multiple sources, or complex transaction patterns. The company markets use across banking, payments, retail, e-commerce, insurance, manufacturing, and supply chain, as well as scalability across transaction volumes; validate those claims through a proof of concept using your own data (ReconArt platform).
Its plans page describes a configurable, module-based approach rather than a universal price table (ReconArt plans). Ask the vendor to load representative bank, processor, ERP, and spreadsheet data; transform it; and demonstrate many-to-many matching, partial settlements, foreign-exchange differences, and timing differences. Seek contractual throughput and service-level commitments if volume is material.
Pricing: compare quotes, not unsupported price points
Public pricing is limited. FloQast says its price is customized to scope and scale; BlackLine’s 2024 filing identifies user access and products purchased as principal pricing factors; Adra is quote-led; Cadency is an enterprise quote; and ReconArt describes module selection without a universal public amount. Third-party estimates may not identify the date, edition, geography, included modules, or implementation assumptions, so they are not a reliable substitute for a vendor quote.

Ask every vendor to price the same scope and show recurring subscription separately from one-time work. Include preparers, reviewers, approvers, entities, accounts, transaction volume, source systems, connectors, API or SFTP access, migration, configuration, training, support, sandbox environments, storage, retention, renewal increases, termination terms, and data-export fees. Compare three-year total cost, including internal administration and integration maintenance—not only the first-year license.
Automation: test the controls behind the match rate
Automation can range from importing files to transforming data, applying matching rules, recommending matches with AI, auto-certifying accounts, routing exceptions, suggesting journal entries, and flagging variances. A vendor’s “AI” label does not establish that reconciliation is autonomous or that human review is unnecessary. Trintech describes automated formatting, balance population, auto-reconciliation, risk-based workflows, and multi-ERP support (Trintech account reconciliations). ReconArt describes high-volume processing and natural-language rule creation; test those capabilities in a live evaluation rather than assuming a particular result (ReconArt platform).
A high auto-match rate can conceal false positives. Use the demo to establish how rules are created and reused, how source transactions remain inspectable, how low-confidence items are routed, how rule changes are logged, and how erroneous matches can be reversed. Ask for false-positive controls, human-review thresholds, and exception-aging reports.
Matching quality also depends on the input. Inconsistent account identifiers, timing differences, foreign-exchange variation, reversals, duplicates, and missing descriptions can defeat an otherwise capable engine. Require the vendor to process representative historical files during a proof of concept and review both matched and unmatched outcomes.
Integrations and implementation: verify the actual connection
Ask whether each connection is a vendor-maintained native connector, partner connector, API, standard file import, SFTP exchange, robotic process automation, or custom implementation. A product-page statement that a vendor supports an ERP does not establish that your edition exposes the needed data objects or that the connection is turnkey.
Trintech lists support for environments including SAP, Workday, Oracle, and NetSuite; FloQast says its platform connects with ERP systems, banks, and third-party applications. Connector availability, implementation effort, and supported data may vary by edition and geography, so confirm them in writing (Trintech account reconciliations; FloQast platform and pricing information).
Rank #4
A polished demonstration may not reveal data mapping, historical migration, custom integration work, control redesign, or user-adoption effort. Ask for an implementation plan with deliverables, customer responsibilities, milestones, named integration assumptions, and references using a similar ERP environment.

The available comparison material reports ratings of 4.6/5 for FloQast, 4.5/5 for BlackLine Financial Close Management, and 4.5/5 for Trintech; G2 comparison material lists Adra at 4.5/5, while Gartner Peer Insights shows Adra at 4.2. These figures are snapshots from the cited review material, not controlled product tests. The supplied review information does not establish a consistent review count and access date for every figure, so do not treat small rating differences as a quality ranking.
Use reviews to generate questions about ease of use, implementation, workflow, automation, reporting, support, and large-reconciliation performance, then check whether the reviewer’s product edition and organization resemble yours. G2 material for Adra includes positive comments about ease of use and time savings as well as concerns about reporting, setup, and performance with large reconciliations; these are user-reported themes, not universal defects (G2 Adra reviews). Run a comparable demo or proof of concept
Give each shortlisted vendor the same representative data and control scenario. A focused evaluation should cover:
- Import: Load sample source files from the ERP, bank, processor, or other material systems. Confirm format and refresh method.
- Transform: Normalize identifiers and fields before matching; document any manual cleanup or custom mapping.
- Configure: Create a matching rule and show whether it can be reused across accounts or entities.
- Match: Test one-to-one and the relevant one-to-many, many-to-one, many-to-many, or multi-way cases.
- Handle exceptions: Present duplicates, timing differences, partial settlements, foreign-exchange differences, and missing data.
- Review and certify: Show thresholds, reviewer approval, role permissions, and the evidence retained.
- Audit and recover: Inspect rule-change logs, source drill-down, exportable evidence, and reversal or correction of a bad match.
- Report: Show unmatched-item aging, account status, and the reports included in the quoted package.
Score each product against the same criteria: process coverage, automation depth, volume and entity capacity, control environment, integration type, usability, implementation effort, three-year cost, and evidence from comparable customers. Ask for proof-of-concept results and service commitments where performance or availability is critical.
When an alternative may be the better choice
Use the ERP you already own when the process is simple
An ERP-native module can be sensible for manageable volumes and straightforward bank or account reconciliation. Check whether it can handle cross-system matching, centralized evidence, exception workflows, and the controls you need before adding a separate platform.
Best Value
Keep a controlled spreadsheet only when its risks are manageable
A spreadsheet has little incremental software cost but relies on disciplined templates, permissions, file handling, version control, and review. Compare that burden with the labor spent preparing accounts, following up exceptions, supporting audits, and correcting errors.
Consider a specialist when the workflow is not a general close process
OneStream may merit comparison when reconciliation is part of a broader consolidation and corporate-performance-management program. HighRadius is more relevant where reconciliation connects to treasury, cash application, collections, or order-to-cash automation. Specialized payment-reconciliation products may fit card, marketplace, and processor settlements better than a general close-management tool. Verify current scope and pricing with each provider.
A standalone finance platform is also a poor investment if account ownership, source-data definitions, exception policies, and approval responsibilities have not been standardized. Software cannot repair an undefined process by itself.
Make the shortlist fit your operating model
Use these distinctions to select vendors for demos rather than trying to name a universal winner:
Quick wins for a faster PC:

- Enterprise controls and financial-close breadth: Compare BlackLine and Cadency against required modules and governance needs.
- Mid-market reconciliation and matching: Evaluate Adra’s proposed package against your account, bank, and task workflows.
- High-volume, multi-source transactions or settlements: Put ReconArt through a proof of concept using your own files and volumes.
- Few, low-risk monthly reconciliations: Price the labor and control consequences of staying with the ERP or a controlled spreadsheet before buying a suite.
For every option, compare account and transaction scope, entities and currencies, daily versus monthly processing, compliance burden, data connectivity, implementation budget, and the cost of maintaining the process after go-live.
