The Xiaomi SU7 is priced like a relatively affordable performance electric sedan in China, but that price does not translate into a U.S. purchase price. The current second-generation SU7 starts at RMB 219,900, or roughly $30,500 at an illustrative exchange rate of RMB 7.20 to $1.
That figure is not a U.S. MSRP. It excludes international shipping, customs charges, tariffs, compliance work, registration, taxes and any cost of making the vehicle meet American safety and emissions requirements. More importantly, Xiaomi does not currently sell the SU7 through an official U.S. channel.
How much does the Xiaomi SU7 cost in China?
Xiaomi launched the second-generation SU7 in China on March 19, 2026. Its official starting prices are:
| Version | China starting price | Approximate U.S. dollar equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| SU7 Standard | RMB 219,900 | About $30,500 |
| SU7 Pro | RMB 249,900 | About $34,700 |
| SU7 Max | RMB 303,900 | About $42,200 |
The dollar figures are simple currency conversions, not prices a U.S. buyer can pay. Exchange rates move, and the conversion does not include Chinese or U.S. taxes, shipping, insurance, customs fees, tariffs, compliance work or state registration costs.

How much is the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra?
The performance-focused SU7 Ultra is priced separately from the Standard, Pro and Max:
| SU7 Ultra version | China price | Approximate dollar equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Standard SU7 Ultra | RMB 529,900 | About $73,600 |
| SU7 Ultra with Track Package | RMB 629,900 | About $87,500 |
| Nürburgring Limited Edition | RMB 814,900 | About $113,200 |
Xiaomi says these vehicles are sold through the Xiaomi EV App or Xiaomi EV WeChat Mini Program in Mainland China. The company’s announcement says the SU7 Ultra and its functions are currently available only there.
Can you buy a Xiaomi SU7 in the United States?
Not through an official U.S. sales channel. As of August 9, 2026, Xiaomi has no U.S. retail operation, dealer network, U.S. MSRP or announced SU7 launch date. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also said in February 2026 that the company had no immediate plans to enter the U.S. electric-vehicle market.
A Xiaomi vehicle spotted on a U.S. road does not establish that the model is being sold here. Lei Jun said a Xiaomi YU7 seen in the United States was likely obtained by a U.S. company or supplier for benchmarking. A test or research vehicle is very different from a car that an individual can buy, insure and register for daily driving.

Could you privately import one?
A U.S. buyer generally cannot order a Chinese-market SU7, ship it across the Pacific and register it as an ordinary road car. The central issue is compliance, not simply whether the buyer can pay the Chinese price.
For a vehicle less than 25 years old, U.S. rules generally require one of two paths:
- The vehicle was manufactured and certified to comply with all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, or
- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has determined that the specific vehicle is eligible for importation, after which it is brought into compliance through a Registered Importer.
There is no indication that the Chinese-market Xiaomi SU7 has a U.S. FMVSS certification label or an NHTSA eligibility listing. The 25-year exemption does not provide a practical workaround for a current SU7: the vehicle would need to be at least 25 years old, measured from its manufacturing date.

EPA rules apply even though the SU7 is electric
Safety compliance is only one part of importing a vehicle. The Environmental Protection Agency has separate import requirements. Vehicles entering U.S. commerce generally need an EPA Certificate of Conformity or must qualify for a specific exemption. Passenger-vehicle import declarations use EPA Form 3520-1.
An electric vehicle has no tailpipe emissions, but that does not remove the federal import process. The car still has to satisfy applicable requirements, and customs, documentation and state-registration rules remain separate issues.

What about a temporary import for research or display?
Some nonconforming vehicles can enter the United States temporarily for limited purposes, including:
- Research or testing
- Demonstration or training
- Racing or competition
- Show or display
These exceptions are not normal consumer-purchase programs. The vehicle may have to be exported or destroyed when the authorized period ends. A non-U.S. resident may also be able to bring a nonconforming vehicle temporarily for personal use for up to one year under applicable conditions, but that is not a route for a U.S. resident to keep and register an SU7 permanently.

The United States announced a 100% Section 301 tariff rate on Chinese electric vehicles in 2024, in addition to other potentially applicable duties and import costs. The exact treatment of a particular shipment depends on its customs classification and the rules in effect when it enters the country.
Even using the $30,500 converted price of the Standard model, a 100% tariff could add an amount roughly equal to the vehicle’s declared value before other costs. That is only an illustration—not a final landed-cost quote. Shipping, marine insurance, customs brokerage, port charges, possible modifications, storage and state fees could all add to the bill.
Tariffs, however, are not the main barrier. Paying the Chinese purchase price, shipping charges and duties would not make the vehicle legal for permanent U.S. road use. The buyer would still need to resolve NHTSA safety requirements, EPA requirements and state registration and insurance requirements.

Financial risks for a U.S. buyer
Anyone advertising a “brand-new U.S.-legal Xiaomi SU7” should be approached carefully. Before sending a deposit, a buyer would need to verify at least:
- Whether the seller is authorized by Xiaomi, rather than merely importing or brokering vehicles.
- The vehicle’s exact model year, market and compliance label.
- Whether NHTSA has listed that make, model and model year as eligible for importation.
- How the vehicle would satisfy EPA requirements and what documentation is available.
- Whether a specific state’s DMV will issue a title and registration.
- Whether an insurer will provide ordinary road coverage.
- Who pays tariffs, customs charges, storage, modifications and failed-import costs.
A low online sticker price can become an expensive unusable asset if the vehicle is held at a port, denied entry, cannot be titled or must be exported. A deposit agreement that does not clearly assign those risks deserves particular scrutiny.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is the realistic U.S. cost?
There is no reliable all-in U.S. price because there is no official U.S. sales channel and no established ordinary import route for the Chinese-market SU7. The best available comparison is the China starting price:
- SU7 Standard: RMB 219,900, about $30,500 before additional costs.
- SU7 Pro: RMB 249,900, about $34,700 before additional costs.
- SU7 Max: RMB 303,900, about $42,200 before additional costs.
- SU7 Ultra: RMB 529,900, about $73,600 before additional costs.
For a normal U.S. consumer, these should be treated as China-market reference prices—not as a budget for an attainable imported car. If Xiaomi eventually launches an American version, its price could differ substantially because of certification, distribution, warranty, software, tariffs and local equipment.

Can I order a Xiaomi SU7 from China and register it in the United States?
Not as a straightforward consumer import. A current Chinese-market SU7 would need to satisfy NHTSA safety requirements, EPA requirements, customs rules and state-registration requirements. There is no indication that the ordinary Chinese-market model is currently eligible through the normal permanent-import process.
Does the 25-year import rule help with a Xiaomi SU7?
No. The exemption applies only when a vehicle is at least 25 years old, calculated from its manufacturing date. It does not help with a current-generation SU7.
Is the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sold in the United States?
No official U.S. sales channel exists as of August 9, 2026. Xiaomi lists the SU7 Ultra through its Mainland China sales channels and says its availability is currently limited there.
The Bottom Line
The current Xiaomi SU7 starts at about $30,500 equivalent in China, while the SU7 Max starts at about $42,200 and the SU7 Ultra at about $73,600. None of those figures is a U.S. purchase price.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
There is no official U.S. sales option, and a current Chinese-market SU7 is not a practical ordinary import for a U.S. consumer. Safety certification, EPA rules, tariffs, customs, insurance and state registration all stand between the Chinese sticker price and legal daily use in America.
