You can download the Quicken installer for Windows 10 from Quicken, but Quicken Classic is not free software and Quicken says it does not offer a trial version. Instead, eligible purchases come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, subject to Quicken’s terms. Windows 10 is supported except for Windows 10 in S mode, and internet access is required to activate the product.
Is there a free Quicken download or trial for Windows 10?
There is a free installer, not a permanently free licensed copy. Quicken’s current subscription FAQ says a trial version is unavailable; the alternative is a 30-day money-back guarantee. That guarantee is not an automatically ending free trial, so check the refund terms and renewal details before buying. Quicken’s subscription FAQ explains the current policy.
Avoid third-party sites advertising a free current Quicken version, cracks, or serial-number generators. Use Quicken’s own download page, and do not provide financial or Quicken account credentials to an unofficial download site.
Which Quicken product works on Windows 10?
The installed Windows application is Quicken Classic for Windows. It is desktop software; Quicken says its data is stored on the user’s computer, with optional cloud services for web and mobile access. Its subscription includes updates and online services. Those services and other subscription-dependent features may be affected when membership expires. See Quicken’s subscription details.

Quicken also offers cloud-based products, but they are not alternate names for the Windows desktop application. Simplifi is web- and mobile-based; Classic and Simplifi use separate data files and require separate subscriptions. Quicken’s comparison explains the differences.

Quicken listed the following requirements on August 18, 2026. Supported systems and services can change, so check Quicken’s current requirements before installing.

How to download and install Quicken safely
- Open Quicken’s official download and reinstallation page.
- Choose the Windows download for your country: Windows U.S. or Windows Canada. Quicken provides separate options.
- Save the installer, then run the downloaded Quicken .exe file. In Chrome, select the completed download in the browser’s download area. In Firefox, choose Save File, open the downloads list, and run the file.
- Follow the installer prompts. Sign in with your Quicken ID or create one when asked, then activate the subscription. Installing the executable alone does not provide a free license.
- Allow Quicken to update before importing a data file or connecting financial institutions.
Before starting, update Windows, check whether the PC is in S mode, make sure there is enough free space, and back up any existing Quicken data file. Close other financial software during setup and have your Quicken ID and purchase information available.
What does Quicken cost after the refund window?
Quicken’s pricing page displayed the following promotional monthly figures with annual billing on August 18, 2026. Promotions can change, and the page’s displayed monthly amount may not equal the final annual charge divided by 12. For ordinary household budgeting on Windows, Deluxe is the lower-cost Classic option. Premier is more appropriate when its investment and tax features matter to you; Business & Personal is intended for people who need business tools as well as personal finance features. Classic or Simplifi: which should you choose?
- Choose Quicken Classic Deluxe if you want installed Windows software for household finances, budgeting, debt, reports, and retirement planning.
- Choose Quicken Classic Premier if you actively track investments and need its additional investment or tax-reporting capabilities.
- Choose Quicken Classic Business & Personal if you manage business and personal finances together and need business reporting, cash-flow tracking, invoicing, or business tax schedules.
- Choose Simplifi if you want a simpler web-and-mobile budgeting product rather than a locally installed desktop program. It is a separate product with a separate subscription and data file, not a migration-free version of Classic.
Quicken says its products are intended for subscribers in the U.S. and Canada because bank support is focused on those regions. Installing elsewhere does not guarantee bank connectivity or customer support. Quicken’s product page describes the regional limitation.

Troubleshooting installation and activation
- Installer will not run: Check that Windows is up to date, that you are not using Windows 10 in S mode, and that you have administrator permission. Firewall or antivirus software can interfere with installation; Quicken’s requirements page advises checking these if setup is blocked.
- .NET setup fails: Confirm that Windows is current and that there is enough free disk space for .NET installation. The system requirement is Microsoft .NET 4.6 or newer.
- Wrong installer or accounts do not connect: Make sure you selected the U.S. or Canada download that matches your use. Bank connections depend on supported institutions; they are not guaranteed for every bank.
- Installed but cannot activate: Confirm internet access, sign in with the Quicken ID associated with the purchase, and verify the subscription status. Activation requires internet access.
- Expected a trial but was charged: Quicken says it does not offer a trial. Check the purchase date and contact Quicken support promptly about refund eligibility under its 30-day guarantee.
Moving data from an older finance program
Quicken says Quicken for Windows can import data from Quicken for Windows 2010 or newer. Its FAQ also lists Microsoft Money 2008 and 2009 imports for Deluxe and higher. Make a separate backup before converting or opening older data, and confirm the target edition supports the import you need. See Quicken’s import details.
