The deal summary called both prices the lowest yet for those configurations. That is a record-low claim attributed to the coverage, not an independently verified all-time price history. Which iPad mini was on sale?
It was the seventh-generation iPad mini, introduced in October 2024—not a newer 2025 or 2026 model. Apple gave it an A17 Pro chip and a 128GB starting configuration. What you get—and what the compact size means
The mini pairs an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with USB-C, a 12MP rear camera, and a 12MP Center Stage front camera. The Wi‑Fi model weighs 293 grams; the Wi‑Fi + Cellular model weighs 297 grams. Apple lists support for Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil USB-C, and the A17 Pro model is compatible with Apple Intelligence. Feature availability can depend on language, region, and software version, so compatibility does not mean every feature is available to every user. The small screen is the point if you want a light tablet for reading, travel, commuting, note-taking, or quick tasks alongside an iPhone. It is a compromise if you want room for split-screen work, a laptop-like setup, or a larger canvas for creative projects. Is 128GB enough, or is 256GB worth $100 more?
Choose 128GB for everyday, mostly cloud-based use
For browsing, reading, streaming, notes, and light gaming, 128GB may be a sensible way to keep the purchase closer to the headline price. Streaming rather than downloading and using cloud storage can reduce how much space you need on the tablet.
Consider 256GB for more local storage
The reported 256GB sale configuration cost $100 more than the 128GB one. That extra capacity is more useful if you keep video offline, install large games, store a substantial photo library, or use creative apps with sizeable files. The iPad mini has no expandable storage, so the choice is permanent.

Check the 512GB tier if you keep large projects on-device
Apple listed a 512GB Wi‑Fi model at $799; the Cyber Monday coverage did not report a sale price for it. It is the relevant listed capacity for buyers who need substantially more local space, but the $349 and $449 deal figures do not apply to that configuration.
Does the sale price beat buying from Apple?
Apple’s listed Wi‑Fi prices were $499 for 128GB, $599 for 256GB, and $799 for 512GB. Apple listed the 128GB Wi‑Fi + Cellular model at $649. The reported $349 and $449 prices therefore undercut Apple’s listed prices by $150 for the Wi‑Fi configurations covered—not because Apple was offering the Cyber Monday promotion. Buying direct may suit someone who values Apple trade-in credit, financing, AppleCare+, direct support, pickup, or available engraving. Those options do not make the expired retailer deal current, and the best choice depends on the final checkout total and the terms of each offer.

The tablet’s sale price did not include optional accessories. At launch, Apple listed the Pencil Pro at $129, the Apple Pencil USB-C at $79, and the Smart Folio at $59. A $349 iPad mini plus a Pencil Pro would have been $478 before tax; adding the Smart Folio would bring that example to $537 before tax. Those are arithmetic examples using Apple’s launch accessory prices, not a claim that the accessories were discounted with the tablet. Apple’s accessory announcement lists those launch prices.

Also account for sales tax, shipping if applicable, a case or keyboard, and any cellular plan if you choose a cellular model. AppleCare+ is optional; check its current price and coverage terms for the exact device before adding it to your budget.
Who should buy the iPad mini—and who should skip it?
It makes sense if portability is your priority
- You want the smallest iPad form factor for commuting, travel, reading, or carrying around the house.
- You want a compact tablet that supports Apple Pencil Pro or Apple Pencil USB-C.
- You prefer the A17 Pro mini’s small size over a larger display, and 128GB or 256GB fits your storage needs.
Look elsewhere if screen area or the lowest price matters more
- You want a laptop replacement, frequent split-screen work, or a bigger canvas; compare a standard iPad or iPad Air instead.
- You are shopping for the least expensive iPad rather than the smallest one.
- You need cellular connectivity: the reported deal covered Wi‑Fi configurations, not a verified cellular discount.
- You require more than 256GB locally but do not want to pay for the listed 512GB model.
How to check a future listing before you buy
If a similar price appears again, verify the exact configuration and checkout terms before treating it as comparable to the 2025 promotion:
- Confirm the listing is for the 2024 seventh-generation iPad mini with A17 Pro, not an older generation.
- Check that it is the 128GB or 256GB Wi‑Fi configuration; the deal figures do not establish a cellular price.
- Confirm the product is new, not refurbished or open-box, and check who sells and ships it.
