The most specific recent estimate puts Coventry City owner Doug King’s net worth at £317 million. The Football Group published that figure on 27 August 2026, but it is a media estimate—not an audited disclosure or a confirmed amount of cash King can spend. It is far below FourFourTwo’s separate 2026 estimate of £23 billion for Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour, though the publications do not use a shared valuation method.
What is Doug King’s estimated net worth?
The Football Group’s 2026/27 Premier League owners ranking, published on 27 August 2026, estimates King’s wealth at £317 million and places him 18th on its list. The article reviewed for that ranking does not explain its valuation method or show the assets used to calculate the estimate. It should therefore be described as The Football Group’s estimate, not as an official or verified personal net-worth figure.
The Guardian’s 5 May 2026 profile described King as worth “hundreds of millions” but did not give a precise figure. That broadly aligns with the scale of The Football Group’s estimate, but it does not independently establish the £317 million valuation. No audited or official personal net-worth figure for King was identified in the sources reviewed.
How does King compare with other football owners?
The figures below come from two publications and should not be treated as a single, consistently calculated league table. The Football Group’s estimates are from its ranking published on 27 August 2026; FourFourTwo’s figures are from its 2026 Football Rich List.

| Doug King | Coventry City | £317 million | The Football Group, 27 August 2026; its 2026/27 ranking. Valuation method not disclosed in the reviewed article. |
| Tony Bloom | Brighton & Hove Albion | £1.3 billion | The Football Group, 27 August 2026; same ranking and estimate basis as King. |
| Matthew Benham | Brentford | £216 million | The Football Group, 27 August 2026; same ranking and estimate basis as King. |
| Acun Ilicali | Hull City | £225 million | The Football Group, 27 August 2026; its ranking includes recently promoted clubs, so this is not a strict 20-club Premier League-only comparison. |
| Sheikh Mansour | Manchester City | £23 billion | FourFourTwo, 2026 Football Rich List; a separate publication and estimate method. |
| Mohammed bin Salman and family/PIF | Newcastle/PIF clubs | £1.2 trillion | FourFourTwo, 2026 Football Rich List; a grouped sovereign fund and royal-family reference, not an individual personal-net-worth figure. |
Within The Football Group’s ranking, King’s £317 million estimate is above its figures for Benham (£216 million) and Ilicali (£225 million), and below Bloom’s £1.3 billion. FourFourTwo’s £23 billion estimate for Mansour is roughly 73 times The Football Group’s estimate for King. That ratio is only a comparison of two publishers’ estimates, not a like-for-like calculation based on audited disclosures or a common method.
The £1.2 trillion FourFourTwo figure for Mohammed bin Salman and family/PIF is on a different basis again: it groups a sovereign wealth fund and a royal family. It should not be read as one person’s liquid personal fortune or compared directly with King’s individual estimate.

What is known about King’s business background and Coventry ownership?
BBC Sport’s 10 January 2023 profile described King’s background as trading in grains, non-grain feeds and petroleum. It reported that he led Yelo Enterprises and co-founded RCMA Capital. BBC said RCMA had overseen more than $400 million in investments, equivalent to £337 million at the conversion used in that article. That figure describes investment activity overseen by the firm; it is not a disclosure of King’s personal assets or net worth.
King became Coventry City’s sole owner in January 2023. BBC Sport reported on 27 January 2023 that he bought SISU Capital’s remaining 15% stake, taking ownership to 100%. That ownership milestone concerns the football club, not necessarily its stadium: BBC reported in January 2023 that Coventry’s stadium was owned by Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group.

Why net-worth estimates are difficult to compare
A headline wealth figure can refer to very different things. For a useful comparison, check who or what is being valued, who published the estimate and when, what currency is used, whether a method or underlying assets are disclosed, and whether the number describes personal wealth rather than a company, club, family or investment fund.
- Personal wealth versus business activity: a firm’s investments or a club’s value do not establish an owner’s personal net worth.
- Different estimate makers: The Football Group’s King estimate and FourFourTwo’s Mansour estimate come from separate publications, with no common valuation standard identified.
- Different subjects: an estimate for one individual is not equivalent to a combined family, consortium or sovereign fund figure.
- Different dates and currencies: retain the source and publication date with a figure, and do not imply that estimates from separate lists were calculated at the same time or on the same basis.
For those reasons, £317 million is best treated as the clearest recent precise estimate located, not a definitive measurement of King’s wealth. The broader Guardian description supports only the general scale, while the available ownership and business details do not verify the exact number.
