“Highest-earning ever” would require comparable cumulative figures across hosts and careers. A one-year estimate cannot be fairly compared with another person’s lifetime earnings, net worth, or a company’s sale price. The available figures do not establish a public, comprehensive table of late-night hosts’ all-time earnings.
How much did Conan make on TBS?
The sources that establish the $12.5 million estimate do not identify it as O’Brien’s TBS salary. WarnerMedia announced in November 2020 that O’Brien would continue his relationship with the company through a weekly HBO Max variety series after his ten-year TBS run. Warner Bros. Discovery later announced that CONAN on TBS would end on June 24, 2021. Neither announcement provides a TBS salary or total compensation figure.

The same 2021 announcement described Team Coco’s work beyond the television show, including branded content, live events, merchandise, comedy specials and podcasts. This shows the scope of O’Brien’s media business, but does not disclose what he personally earned from those activities.
Did the Team Coco sale reveal his earnings?
No. SiriusXM announced on May 23, 2022, that it had acquired Team Coco, including the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast and the podcast network and digital media business.
