Business Recorder reported on September 9, 2025, citing Bloomberg coverage and CCI data released in August, that CCI’s share fell five percentage points to 54% in Türkiye and four percentage points in Pakistan’s sparkling-beverage market. The report does not establish that boycotts alone caused either decline.
What the reported market-share figures show
| Country | Reported market-share change | Market scope and ending share | Comparison period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Türkiye | Down five percentage points, to 54% | Reported as the Turkish market; the category scope is not specified in the available account | Not stated in Business Recorder’s September 9, 2025 report |
| Pakistan | Down four percentage points | Pakistan’s sparkling-beverage market; ending share not stated | Not stated in Business Recorder’s September 9, 2025 report |
These are market-share estimates attributed by Business Recorder to Bloomberg and CCI data. A percentage-point change describes the difference between two share figures; it is not the same as a percentage decline in sales. Because the report does not specify the comparison window, the figures should not be treated as a precisely dated year-over-year change.
How much did boycotts contribute?
The September report presented boycott calls as context for the declines, with consumers targeting Western products perceived to have ties to Israel. That supports saying the reported losses occurred amid boycott activity, not that the boycotts were proven to be the sole cause. The account does not provide a causal breakdown or isolate the effect of consumer boycotts from other market forces.
The company behind these figures is Coca-Cola İçecek, not a global market-share measure for The Coca-Cola Company. CCI’s FY2025 annual report also describes affordability pressures, high energy prices, elevated taxes and growing competition from local brands in Pakistan. These are company-described operating conditions, not proof of what drove the earlier share estimate.

What CCI’s later sales-volume figures say
CCI’s 2025 Integrated Annual Report, published in 2026, provides subsequent sales-volume results. Volume is the number of products sold, while market share measures a company’s portion of a market; these figures cover different measures and periods, so they do not directly verify or disprove the 2025 market-share report.
| Country | CCI-reported sales-volume trend | What the figure measures |
|---|---|---|
| Pakistan | Volume fell 14.2% in 2024, then rose 1.3% in 2025 to 314 million unit cases | CCI sales volume; not local market share |
| Türkiye | Total volume fell 1.0% in 2025; volume excluding water rose 3.8% | CCI sales volume; the company said the total decline mainly reflected its strategy to reduce lower-value water volume |
CCI said Pakistan returned to volume growth in 2025 after the 2024 decline. That later recovery is a company-reported volume trend, not evidence that market share recovered. Similarly, the differing Turkish volume results with and without water show why category and product mix matter when interpreting a headline number.

What can and cannot be concluded
- Reported: CCI’s share fell five percentage points to 54% in Türkiye and four percentage points in Pakistan’s sparkling-beverage market, according to Business Recorder’s September 9, 2025 account of Bloomberg coverage and CCI data.
- Not specified: The exact comparison window for either country, Pakistan’s ending share, and the Turkish market category.
- Not demonstrated: That boycott activity by itself caused the reported declines.
- Separate later evidence: CCI’s 2025 annual report gives sales-volume results, which are not market-share measurements.
The figures are therefore best read as reported evidence of share losses in two markets amid boycott calls, with important gaps around timing, category definition and causation.
