What did CloudTrucks offer owner-operators?
In 2021 coverage, CloudTrucks presented its services as ways to address cash flow and the administrative work of running a trucking business. The reported offerings included:
- CT Cash: A faster-payment and cash-flow service described as offering instant pay, a cash card, and cash advances.
- Flex: Back-office support for small carriers that managed their own insurance and compliance.
- Virtual Carrier: An option for drivers to operate under CloudTrucks’ authority, with administrative support and insurance and compliance management.
- Schedule and load suggestions: Flex and Virtual Carrier were described as including schedule optimization and load recommendations.
- Business Intelligence: A dashboard for viewing business performance, expenses, and revenue.
CloudTrucks co-founder and CEO Tobenna Arodiogbu summed up the analytics rationale to TechCrunch: “You can’t really improve something that you don’t track.” These descriptions reflect reporting from 2021, not confirmation that the services remain available or operate on the same terms.
How did Flex and Virtual Carrier differ?
The main distinction in the 2021 descriptions was whose operating authority the driver used and who handled insurance and compliance.

This is a comparison of how the services were described in 2021, not current contract guidance. A carrier considering a similar arrangement would need to verify present terms, responsibility for insurance and compliance, and payment timing directly with the provider.
Who led the $115 million Series B, and what was it meant to fund?
CloudTrucks announced the round on November 30, 2021. TechCrunch and FreightWaves reported that Tiger Global led it and Menlo Ventures participated; the reports also named Flexport and angel investors Michael Ovitz and Eric Wu as investors. TechCrunch and FreightWaves put total funding at $141.6 million, while FreightWaves and Supply Chain Xchange reported a post-money valuation of $850 million. That valuation is a 2021 figure, not a current company valuation.

The stated aims included expanding the technology suite and team and broadening digital integrations with brokers and shippers. The primary audience described in coverage was independent drivers and small trucking businesses, rather than large shippers.
What growth figures did CloudTrucks report?
TechCrunch reported two company-provided growth figures in 2021: revenue had grown 9.5 times since the December 2020 Series A, and loads completed on the platform had grown eight times since the prior year. The article said CloudTrucks did not provide the comparison base for either figure. They should therefore be read as company-reported growth claims, not independently audited results or enough information to calculate revenue or load volume.

TechCrunch also attributed an estimate of about 350,000 U.S. owner-operator truckers to the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association. Separately, CloudTrucks’ CEO estimated that the company’s target market could be as large as one million drivers. These are different figures with different attributions and should not be treated as the same market-size statistic.

The announcement showed how CloudTrucks sought to package financial administration and operational support for smaller trucking businesses: faster access to earnings, scheduling and load suggestions, performance tracking, and help with back-office tasks. It does not establish whether the company still offers those services, what they cost, who currently qualifies, or what terms apply. The cited accounts cover the 2021 announcement and product descriptions.
