HEC set a deadline of January 5, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time. Its notice listed 75 places—35 for bachelor’s, 25 for master’s and 15 for PhD study. The award covers specified study costs, but recipients pay their own travel.
Is the CSC scholarship open for Pakistani students in 2026?
Not through HEC’s 2026–27 Type A route. The deadline was January 5, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time, so this cycle is closed as of October 8, 2026. HEC named itself the nominating agency for this route and announced 75 places: 35 bachelor’s, 25 master’s and 15 PhD. HEC’s 2026–27 program notice
The expired HEC deadline does not establish whether a separate direct Type B application, university scholarship or later cycle is available. Those routes have their own application instructions and correspondence; check the relevant university or official scholarship authority rather than assuming the HEC deadline applies to them. How the HEC Type A application worked
HEC’s Type A route required two online submissions, not one. Applicants had to submit through both the HEC scholarship portal and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) system. HEC warned that missing either application would result in disqualification. HEC application instructions

Which exams and language rules applied?
Undergraduate CSCA
Undergraduate applicants needed a valid China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) score report. For applicants aiming to enroll in September 2026, HEC gave December 21, 2025, as the assessment date and instructed applicants to upload the report before the China application deadline. Applicants were also told to confirm required subjects with their target institutions. Both the stated test date and enrollment timeline have passed. HEC CSCA instructions
Chinese-taught programs
HEC listed HSK Level 4 for Chinese-taught master’s and doctoral programs, and HSK Level 3 for Chinese-taught general or senior scholar programs. The page describes exemptions for specified applicants, including some who previously earned a degree at a Chinese university where Chinese was the language of instruction. Requirements can vary by program, so applicants need to confirm the applicable rule with the university. HEC language requirements
What does the scholarship pay for—and what does it leave to the student?
HEC lists tuition, a free university dormitory or an accommodation subsidy, and a monthly stipend according to CSC policy. It does not state the monthly stipend amount for this Pakistan Type A cohort, so a figure from another CSC program or an older award page should not be treated as the amount for this scheme. Travel is not covered in HEC’s listed benefits: the page says, “Travel: To be borne by the awardee.” HEC also says it has no financial liability. In practical budgeting, recipients should account for their own travel rather than treating the award as covering every cost.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What study length and preparation should applicants expect?
HEC describes degree programs with typical spans of 4–5 years for undergraduate study, 2–3 years for a master’s and 3–4 years for a doctorate. One to two years of Chinese-language preparatory study may apply. HEC says an undergraduate preparatory year is mandatory unless the applicant has a valid HSK Level 3 certificate. The selected university and program determine the actual structure and duration. HEC program duration information

Applicants considering medicine, engineering, nursing, architecture, law, veterinary medicine or another regulated profession were advised to confirm accreditation with the appropriate Pakistani council. HEC says the Culture Office of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan conducts a preliminary review and recommends qualified applicants to CSC. A recommendation is not a guarantee of final university placement. HEC selection and accreditation guidance
