Cognizant Placement Paper | Aptitude Set 1 is a GeeksforGeeks model aptitude practice paper with 10 multiple-choice questions and worked explanations. It can help you practise quantitative reasoning, but the page does not establish that Cognizant authored or endorses the questions, or that they match the company’s current hiring assessment.

What is in Aptitude Set 1?

The GeeksforGeeks page describes the set as a model placement paper for aptitude preparation for a Cognizant Technology Solutions interview. Its 10 questions cover probability and set overlap, number puzzles, digit replacement, algebraic price relations, language-group overlap, repeated movement, greatest common divisors with remainders, averages and proportional temperature, route counting, and a doubling word-of-mouth problem. Each question has an answer and a worked explanation. The page was last updated on 25 January 2026. View Aptitude Set 1 on GeeksforGeeks.

Answers listed on the page

The table below records the answers displayed on the page. They are the publisher’s listed answers, not independent validation of every solution.

Question Topic Answer shown
1 Probability and set overlap 65%
2 Two-digit number puzzle None of the listed options; the solution gives 84
3 Digit replacement and summation 330
4 Algebraic price relations Conflicting: answer line marks option a (12.5), while the worked solution calculates 62.5%
5 Language-group overlap 23 people
6 Repeated forward and backward motion 14 seconds
7 Greatest common divisor with remainders 71
8 Average and proportional temperature 36°C
9 Counting simple routes in a fully connected graph 65 routes
10 Doubling word-of-mouth problem 47.5 minutes

Check the worked solution for question 4

Question 4 contains an internal mismatch: the answer line selects option a, listed as 12.5, but the worked calculation arrives at 62.5%. Do not treat the marked letter as conclusive; follow the stated calculation and check that it answers the question as written. The page does not resolve the inconsistency.

How to use the set in preparation

  • Attempt first, then review: solve each question before reading its explanation so you can identify whether an error came from the setup, arithmetic, or time management.
  • Keep a record of missed concepts: group errors by topic—such as probability, remainders, averages, or counting—then practise the underlying method rather than memorising an answer.
  • Check the reasoning as well as the answer: question 4 demonstrates why a selected option and a worked solution should be compared when they disagree.
  • Use additional practice if needed: a general quantitative aptitude workbook can supply more solved problems, but the sources do not establish any particular book as Cognizant-approved or guaranteed to match its assessment.

GeeksforGeeks’ broader placement-preparation overview treats aptitude as one part of preparation alongside English comprehension, coding, technical rounds, and interviews. That is general third-party preparation guidance, not a verified current Cognizant hiring specification. The overview was last updated on 11 July 2025. Read the placement-preparation overview.

What this paper does not establish

The available page does not confirm an official Cognizant assessment format, timing, scoring rules, or that these questions reproduce the current test. The title and the publisher’s description make this a relevant practice set, but they are not evidence of Cognizant authorship, endorsement, or current exam alignment.
