Chinese livestream seller Zheng Xiang Xiang drew attention in October 2023 for moving through products in seconds. One report said she generated 100 million yuan in sales over seven days, equivalent to S$18.7 million at the conversion used by that report. That is a reported sales figure—not evidence that she personally earned S$18.7 million.
Who was the streamer, and what did viewers see?
Zheng Xiang Xiang sold products on Douyin, China’s short-video and livestreaming platform. Her format was strikingly spare: an assistant handed her an item, she displayed it and named its price, then moved it aside for the next product. Each showcase lasted about three seconds, according to 8days’ November 5, 2023 report, which described her delivery as deadpan and sped up.
The assortment was not a single signature product. A contemporaneous report listed low-cost goods such as slippers, socks, disposable towels, hangers and toilet paper, alongside clothing. Dân trí cited estimated average prices of 23.12 yuan for clothing and 10.94 yuan for daily necessities; those averages do not mean every item cost the same amount or establish the prices of Zheng’s full catalog. What does the reported $18 million figure mean?
The headline-sized figure refers to sales, not personal income. 8days reported that Zheng had 100 million yuan in sales in seven days and rendered that sum as S$18.7 million. The report did not establish profit, Zheng’s share of revenue, final settled transactions, or sales remaining after cancellations and returns.

Sales volume and earnings are different measures. A seller’s reported sales may include the value of transactions before costs and other deductions; it does not by itself reveal how much the seller kept. No primary platform settlement or independently audited net-income figure was available in the cited coverage, so Zheng’s personal earnings cannot be calculated from the headline figure.
Why do other reports give different numbers?
Another account, published by Touzi Jie and republished by Sina Finance on October 19, 2023, cited estimates from analytics firm Newrank (新榜) for a 105-hour livestream: 113 million cumulative views, more than 800 listed products, over one million units sold, and estimated gross merchandise value (GMV) of 50 million to 75 million yuan. It separately estimated sales of 75 million to 100 million yuan for October. These are analytics estimates, not audited settlements. Their periods and measures differ from 8days’ later seven-day sales claim, so the figures should not be combined or treated as directly comparable totals. (Sina Finance.)

The numbers describe different windows and metrics: a seven-day sales claim, a single-stream GMV estimate, a monthly estimate, and audience or unit counts. None supplies a verified net-profit figure.
