Chloe Szepanowski announced on 29 April 2025 that she was closing her activewear brand SZEP, saying she wanted to focus on other priorities, including motherhood and raising her two sons. She did not give a final trading date: customers could still shop the website at the time, pending an official shutdown date.
What Szepanowski announced
In an announcement quoted by PerthNow on 29 April 2025, Szepanowski said: “It is with sadness & peace that I lay down Szep for a little while.” She described the decision as a pause in her business activity and said she wanted to turn her attention to other ventures in her life, including motherhood and raising her two sons.
The phrase “for a little while” does not establish that SZEP would reopen, or set a date for doing so. The announcement also did not specify when the online store would stop accepting orders. It said customers could continue shopping before an official shutdown date was announced, so it does not establish the final date on which purchases were possible.

Szepanowski’s stated reason
Her public explanation focused on personal priorities and a desire to focus on other life ventures. The announcement did not cite financial figures or present a detailed business explanation.

What later reporting said about the company’s finances
A 16 March 2026 episode of Outspoken the Podcast attributed additional context to a liquidator’s report, as covered by the Gold Coast Bulletin. The episode said Chloe Szep Pty Ltd had a working capital deficiency of AUD 104,139 at the end of the 2025 financial year and likely experienced cash-flow shortages during that year. It also linked the company’s closure to reduced social-media posting and following, alongside a material reduction in revenue and profitability.
Those financial details are the podcast’s account of the liquidator report; the report itself is not independently established here. They should be distinguished from Szepanowski’s announcement, which framed the decision around personal priorities and did not state those financial reasons.

Can customers still buy SZEP activewear?
The announcement-time information only said the website remained open while customers awaited a formal shutdown date. It does not confirm that the store still takes orders now, or identify when it stopped. The later report of liquidation likewise does not, on its own, establish current stock or purchasing availability.
