A wedding website can be free—or it can become another recurring wedding expense once you add a custom domain, guest-management tools, messaging, hosting extensions or a registry fee. The cheapest option is not automatically the best value if it creates extra work or requires several separate services.

These nine wedding website platforms cover the main trade-offs: free planning ecosystems, registry integration, premium design, app-based guest communication and flexible website builders. Prices and features were checked on August 8, 2026. Unless noted otherwise, prices are in U.S. dollars.

Quick comparison

Platform Best for Current cost Important limitation
Joy Best free all-in-one option Website and core planning tools are free; custom domain costs extra Custom-domain forwarding leaves the Joy URL visible in the browser
Zola Registry-centered planning Website is free; custom domains start at $17.99 Guests must already be entered on the guest list to RSVP
The Knot Free planning ecosystem Website is free; custom domain is $19.99 for one year or $39.98 for two years Custom domain is not a monthly premium plan
Minted Matching stationery and design Website is free; custom URL is $15 for one year Custom URL renews annually
Riley & Grey Luxury/editorial design $39 per month or $299 per year to publish Free version cannot be published
Bliss & Bone High-end visual customization $15 per month Standard or $21 per month Premium after a seven-day trial Website and stationery are separate purchases
WedSites Website plus serious planning tools $39 Basic, $99 Standard or $199 Pro, paid once Hosting lasts six, 12 or 24 months depending on plan
Appy Couple Website plus native guest app £80 per year or £11 per month Custom domain costs extra
Squarespace or Wix Maximum general-purpose design control Paid plans vary; Wix has a free tier Neither has a wedding-native RSVP and guest-management workflow out of the box

1. Joy: best free all-in-one wedding website

Joy is the strongest value pick if you want a wedding website and planning system without paying for the core service. Its free offering includes the website, online RSVP, guest list, unlimited guests, digital invitations, registry tools, mobile app, photo storage and customer support.

Optional costs include a custom domain, text messaging and premium stationery designs. That makes Joy particularly useful for couples managing several events, such as a ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner and welcome party.

Barsone Wedding Photo Album 4x6 with 400 Pockets, Custom Engraved Linen Memory Book for Engagement, Bridal Shower & Keepsake Gift, Love Black
  • 【Massive Capacity & Professional Design】Expertly crafted to cherish countless memories, this wedding photo album effortlessly organizes 400 4×6 pictures (240 horizontal + 160 vertical). Scrapbook innovative layout allows flexible mixing of orientations without cropping—perfect for curating your entire wedding journey, travel adventures, or baby’s milestones.
  • 【Elegant Linen Cover & Customizable Cut-Out】Featuring a premium black linen photo album cover with a soft yet durable texture, it seamlessly complements any home décor. Adorned with gold foil embossing and a unique heart-shaped cut-out window, wedding scrapbook lets you insert a custom photo (6.5×5.5 inches) to personalize your wedding album book into a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
  • 【Archival-Grade Protection & Longevity】Equipped with thickened transparent PP pockets, this photo album prevents slipping, scratches, or distortion. Its acid-free materials ensure photos remain fade- and yellow-free for decades, while dust-resistant and weather-proof designs offer comprehensive protection for timeless preservation.
  • 【Meticulous Craftsmanship & User Experience】With 80 thick, sturdy pages (40 sheets), this scrapbook album ensures smooth flipping and lay-flat functionality. The pocket-style design allows easy photo adjustments or additions. Measuring 13.2×12.7×1.8 inches, it’s ideal for both hands-on browsing and elegant desktop display.
  • 【 Emotional Keepsake & Perfect Gift】Beyond an ideal wedding album, it serves as a heartfelt gift for engagements, anniversaries, vow renewals, or bridal showers. As a custom photo albuming love and growth stories, it blends practicality with heirloom value—making it a versatile album de fotos personalizado (personalized photo album) for generations to treasure.

Its RSVP builder supports Attendance, Multiple Choice, Text and Suggestions questions. To add one, go to Event Dashboard → RSVP → Questions → + Add Question. Questions can be required. Once guests have answered a question, it cannot be deleted; you must archive it instead.

There is one important domain caveat. Joy uses forwarding for custom domains. Visitors reach the Joy site, but the browser displays the underlying withjoy.com URL rather than retaining your custom domain.

Best for: Couples who want robust RSVP questions, guest messaging, photo sharing and planning tools at no website cost.

2. Zola: best for an integrated registry

Zola is a good choice when the registry is central to the wedding website. Its free websites include templates, event information, travel and accommodation details, photo galleries, password protection, registry integration and online RSVPs. Zola currently advertises more than 600 website templates.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A custom domain starts at $17.99. Older comparisons often quote $14.95, but that is not the current starting price in Zola’s FAQ.

Zola’s RSVP system requires more preparation than some alternatives. Enable it through Guest List → Your Events → select an event → enable “Let guests RSVP on website.” Guests must be entered on the guest list and marked “Definitely Invited” to at least one event. Children and plus-ones need to be added in advance; guests cannot create their own plus-ones while responding.

A name mismatch can also block an RSVP. Nicknames, missing first or last names, searching for multiple names at once or repeatedly entering an incorrect name can prevent access or temporarily lock a guest out.

For privacy, use Account Settings → Privacy → Website Password → Yes, then enter and save the password. This protects the website, not the registry itself. Registry visibility can instead be reduced by disabling search-engine and Zola-search visibility.

Best for: Couples who want their website, guest list, invitations, registry and planning tools in one ecosystem.

3. The Knot: best free option for broad planning tools

The Knot offers a free wedding website alongside a broad planning ecosystem. Its current offering includes more than 100 free designs, registry links, online RSVP, guest-list management, planning tools, coordinating stationery and a mobile app.

A personalized theknot.com address is free. A custom domain costs $19.99 for one year or $39.98 for two years.

That pricing matters because older articles commonly claim The Knot charges $20 per month for a custom domain. The current wedding-website pricing lists annual domain options instead; it is not a $20-per-month premium website plan.

Best for: Couples who want a free website connected to a checklist, vendor directory, registry, guest list and other planning resources.

4. Minted: best for matching website and paper stationery

Minted makes sense when your website needs to match your invitations, save-the-dates, menus and day-of stationery. Its free wedding websites include artist-designed templates, coordinating paper goods, custom pages, registry links, RSVP questions, photo and video galleries and password protection.

A custom URL costs $15 for one year and renews for $15 annually. Minted says it sends a renewal notice 60 days before expiration.

URL and privacy settings are found under Settings → Edit for the free Minted address and Settings → Get a Custom URL for a custom domain. The same settings area includes password protection, page visibility and search-engine or Minted-search visibility controls.

Do not assume that password protection or galleries require a premium plan. Minted’s current guidance lists those features, along with custom pages, as free website features. The principal paid website upgrade identified in its current materials is the custom URL.

Best for: Couples who care more about a coordinated visual identity than about advanced budgeting or vendor-management tools.

5. Riley & Grey: best for luxury/editorial design

Riley & Grey is aimed at couples willing to pay for a more polished, editorial look. You can choose an aesthetic, design the site, add wedding details, coordinate invitations and begin a registry for free, but the website cannot be published without a paid membership.

Publishing costs $39 per month or $299 per year. A $39 one-time Reserve plan holds the custom domain and aesthetic and can be applied toward a membership.

The membership includes the custom domain, unlimited design and content changes, digital invitations, registry tools and customer support. Riley & Grey says it does not sell users’ information to third parties. Its cash-fund registry currently has a 2.95% gifting fee, which the couple can choose to pay or pass to the guest.

The annual plan costs less than paying monthly for roughly eight months, so it is usually the more sensible option if you expect to keep the website active throughout the engagement and after the wedding.

Best for: Couples who see the website as part of the wedding’s design experience and are comfortable paying for it.

6. Bliss & Bone: best for premium visual customization

Bliss & Bone uses a subscription model rather than offering a permanently free published website. Current plans cost $15 per month for Standard or $21 per month for Premium, following a seven-day free trial. A credit card is not required to start the trial.

  • OUR WEDDING album by Malden holds 160 photos - 4x6

You can choose from designs in the shop or start from scratch. The company treats website and stationery purchases separately, so using its website does not require buying its invitations or other paper products.

The public information available for this comparison does not provide a complete feature-by-feature breakdown of Standard and Premium. Check the plan selector before paying if you need specific RSVP, privacy or guest-management functions rather than choosing solely on appearance.

Best for: Couples prioritizing a distinctive, high-end visual identity over a free or planning-heavy platform.

7. WedSites: best for integrated planning tools

WedSites is useful for couples who want the website to do more than publish ceremony details. Its plans are one-time payments:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Plan Price What it includes Hosting
Basic $39 once Website, themes, password protection, analytics and registry links Six months
Standard $99 once Basic features plus guest list, unlimited guests, online RSVP, custom questions and digital invitations 12 months
Pro $199 once Standard features plus checklist, budget tracking, vendor management, payment reminders, seating chart, timeline creator and multilingual website 24 months

You can design during the free trial, but you need a paid plan to publish and share the website. Extra hosting after the included period costs more, so include a possible renewal in your total budget.

The Pro seating chart includes drag-and-drop guest assignment and an auto-seating feature. Because the guest list feeds into the seating chart, it becomes more useful after RSVPs are collected.

Best for: Couples who want to combine the website with budget, vendor, seating, timeline and RSVP management. WedSites’ main plans are one-time payments, not monthly subscriptions.

8. Appy Couple: best for a native guest-app experience

Appy Couple combines a responsive website with a native guest app. Features include digital invitations, RSVP management, guest messaging, photo sharing, address collection, travel information and registry tools. Its pricing page currently lists £80 per year or £11 per month, with unlimited storage and access to the website, app and publishing tools.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The platform supports guest-list matching, event-specific permissions, password access, push notifications, guest photo streams, multiple administrators and multilingual content entry. A free Appy Couple domain is included.

A custom domain costs extra. The features page lists custom domains starting at US$19.99 per year, while the pricing page also displays a separate “starting at US$30” notice. Verify the price at checkout for the domain you select rather than relying on either figure.

Best for: Couples who want guests to interact through a private, app-like experience instead of simply visiting an information page.

9. Squarespace or Wix: best for maximum design control

Squarespace and Wix are useful when wedding-specific platforms feel too restrictive. They offer more control over page structure, animations, embeds and long-term website design, but they do not provide the same built-in wedding workflow.

Squarespace

Squarespace provides designer templates, drag-and-drop editing, mobile-optimized websites, custom CSS, code blocks, embeds, hosting and SSL. It has a 14-day trial but no permanent free plan. Annual website plans include one free custom domain for the first year.

Its cited plan information does not include a wedding-native guest list or RSVP system. You should expect to use form blocks, embeds or a separate RSVP service, which can add both cost and setup work.

Wix

Wix has a free tier with hosting, templates and a drag-and-drop editor. Paid plans add features such as a custom domain and expanded hosting. The current plan page lists Free, Light, Core, Business and Business Elite tiers, but prices vary by location, billing cycle, currency and taxes.

The displayed reference prices include $17.77 per month for Light, $29.77 for Core, $39.77 for Business and $159.77 for Business Elite. Wix explicitly warns that the price shown may differ at checkout. Treat those figures as location-specific examples, not universal prices.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best for: Couples who want unusual layouts, custom animations, extensive integrations or a website that could later become a broader personal site.

How to choose without overspending

  1. Decide whether you need a custom domain. A free platform URL is usually adequate for a private event. If you buy a domain, check whether it renews annually, is included in the plan or merely forwards to another URL.
  2. Map your RSVP requirements before choosing. If you need meal choices, multiple events, transportation, children, plus-ones or accessibility questions, test the exact workflow. Zola, for example, requires guests and permitted plus-ones to be entered in advance.
  3. Calculate the full ownership cost. Add the website plan, domain, hosting extension, text messages, stationery, external RSVP tools and any registry or gifting fees. A $39 plan with six months of hosting may cost more over a long engagement than it first appears.
  4. Check privacy separately from convenience. Password-protecting a website does not necessarily hide the registry. Review search-engine visibility and registry privacy settings independently.
  5. Test the guest experience. Send a test RSVP from a phone. Confirm that guests can find their names, select the correct events, answer required questions and change a response without contacting you.

Which wedding website is the best value?

For most budget-conscious couples, Joy is the best overall value because its website, RSVP, guest list and core planning tools are free. Zola is the better choice if registry integration drives the decision, while WedSites Standard offers a relatively low one-time cost for couples who need a more substantial planning system.

Pay for Riley & Grey or Bliss & Bone when the visual experience justifies an ongoing cost. Choose Squarespace or Wix only if design flexibility is worth assembling RSVP and guest-management tools separately.

FAQ

What is the best free wedding website?

Joy is the strongest free all-in-one option because its website, online RSVP, guest list, unlimited guests, digital invitations, registry tools, photo storage and core planning features are free. The Knot, Zola and Minted also offer free websites, but their workflows and strengths differ.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do wedding websites charge for a custom domain?

Usually. Current examples include $17.99 starting price at Zola, $19.99 for one year at The Knot, $15 for one year at Minted and extra cost at Joy and Appy Couple. Check whether the domain renews annually and whether it remains visible in the browser after forwarding.

Which wedding website is best for RSVPs?

Joy is a strong choice for flexible RSVP questions and multiple events. WedSites Standard and Pro also provide online RSVP with custom questions. Zola works well but requires invited guests, children and plus-ones to be entered in advance.

Are Squarespace and Wix good wedding website options?

They are good for maximum design control, but they are not like-for-like replacements for wedding-native platforms. You may need separate RSVP, guest-list and messaging tools, which can increase both cost and setup time.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Start with Joy if minimizing cost and administrative work is the priority. Choose Zola for registry integration, Minted for coordinated stationery, The Knot for a broad free planning ecosystem and WedSites for a one-time payment covering more serious planning tools. Premium platforms such as Riley & Grey and Bliss & Bone are best justified by design; Squarespace and Wix are best reserved for couples who need general-purpose website control.
