Evaluate Stellantis by asking whether its recent operating recovery can produce durable margins and positive industrial free cash flow—not by treating a strong quarter, a brand strategy, or management guidance as proof that the stock is attractive. In the latest reported quarter, Q2 2026, revenue and adjusted operating income improved year over year and industrial free cash flow turned positive. But first-half industrial free cash flow remained negative, and the latest full-year baseline, FY 2025, showed a large loss and negative cash generation. Those results describe an improving business, not a completed recovery or a stock valuation.
How do I evaluate Stellantis stock?
Use five checks, comparing like periods and keeping the company’s adjusted measures separate from IFRS results:
- Revenue quality: Identify whether growth came from vehicle volumes and mix, pricing, foreign exchange, or other factors. Revenue growth is more useful when it is supported by demand and a favorable mix rather than a temporary price or currency effect.
- Operating profitability: Track IFRS operating income and net profit alongside adjusted operating income (AOI) and adjusted operating margin. Examine what the adjusted measure excludes.
- Cash conversion: Check whether operations generate cash after investment, and whether positive cash flow persists across periods rather than depending on working-capital timing.
- Financial resilience: Read industrial debt and available liquidity together, while keeping financial-services balances out of comparisons that are explicitly industrial-only.
- Evidence behind the portfolio plan: Treat brand priorities and product plans as management’s strategy, then look for reported financial results that show whether they are working. Stellantis reports segment results by geography, not by individual brand.
The latest operating snapshot is the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2026, released July 30, 2026. The latest completed annual baseline is FY 2025. Stellantis reports in euros. The company’s 2026 interim report, Q2 results release, and FY 2025 results release provide the relevant figures and definitions.
Is Stellantis profitable?
The answer depends on the period and the measure. FY 2025 was severely loss-making; Q2 2026 was profitable on an IFRS net-profit basis and showed positive adjusted operating income. One quarter’s improvement does not establish that the annual result or margins have recovered sustainably.

| Measure | Q2 2026 | Q2 2025 comparison | H1 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Net revenue | €43.482 billion; up 13.1% year over year | €38.448 billion | €81.614 billion; up 9.9% year over year |
| IFRS net profit (loss) | €293 million | Loss of €1.869 billion | €670 million |
| Adjusted operating income | €773 million | €213 million | €1.733 billion |
| Adjusted operating margin | About 1.8%, up 120 basis points year over year | About 0.6% | Not stated in the cited summary figures; see the interim report |
| Industrial free cash flow | €1.0 billion | Not stated in the cited summary figures | Negative €921 million, versus negative €3.005 billion in H1 2025 |
These are company-reported figures for the stated periods; the Q2 and H1 results and margin comparison are reported in the Q2 2026 release and interim report. The Q2 revenue increase was driven mainly by volume and mix, partly offset by net price and foreign exchange or other factors. H1 revenue increased 9.9%, with foreign exchange and other factors a material drag.
Why adjusted margin needs an IFRS check
Stellantis calculates adjusted operating margin by dividing AOI by net revenue. AOI excludes, among other items, restructuring and other termination costs, impairments, asset write-offs, investment disposals, unusual operating income or expenses, net financial income or expenses, and tax. Management uses the measure to assess ongoing operations, but the company cautions that it is not a substitute for IFRS net profit or cash flow and may not be comparable with similarly named measures at other companies.
That distinction matters against FY 2025: Stellantis reported €153.508 billion in net revenue, a €22.332 billion net loss, an adjusted operating loss of €842 million, an adjusted operating margin of negative 0.5%, and negative €4.525 billion of industrial free cash flow. The company attributed the €22.3 billion net loss to €25.4 billion in unusual charges, chiefly related to its strategic reset. Compare later adjusted results with IFRS outcomes and cash generation to see whether the improvement survives beyond exclusions. The figures and explanation are in the FY 2025 release.
Regional results are not brand results
In Q2 2026, all reported regions except Enlarged Europe posted positive adjusted operating margins; Enlarged Europe’s margin was negative 0.6%. Since January 2026, Stellantis has reported five operating segments: North America, Enlarged Europe, Middle East & Africa, South America, and Asia Pacific. These figures help assess regional performance, but they cannot show that a specific marque is profitable.

Management identifies Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, and FIAT as its four global brands with the greatest scale and profitability potential. It says approximately 70% of planned brand and product investment will go to those brands and Pro One, its commercial vehicle business unit. Chrysler, Dodge, Citroën, Opel, and Alfa Romeo are described as regional brands serving core markets; DS and Lancia are to be managed within the Citroën and FIAT organizations as specialty brands.
The interim report also describes a product plan through 2030 comprising more than 60 new vehicle models and approximately 50 significant model refreshes across brands and powertrains. These are management priorities and forward plans, not disclosed brand-level earnings or guaranteed sales. Use them as possible drivers of future volume, mix, and investment needs; test the strategy against subsequent segment results and cash generation. The company’s description is in its 2026 interim report.

How much debt does Stellantis have?
For the industrial business, Stellantis reported an industrial net financial position of €10.035 billion at June 30, 2026, compared with €6.694 billion at December 31, 2025. Under the presentation used here, a positive figure represents net industrial debt, not net cash; the reported amount therefore indicates a larger net-debt position than at year-end. The measure excludes debt, cash, and other financial assets or liabilities belonging to financial-services entities, so it is not a consolidated debt figure for every Stellantis operation.
Stellantis’ industrial available liquidity was €44.145 billion at June 30, 2026, versus €45.711 billion at year-end 2025. Liquidity is a buffer against funding needs; it does not demonstrate that operations are producing enough cash to repay debt. The company said the movement in industrial net financial position since year-end primarily reflected proceeds from hybrid perpetual notes, partly offset by negative first-half free cash flow. The interim report explains the company-defined measure and its scope.
For context, the FY 2025 results release reported industrial available liquidity of €46 billion at year-end and said the board authorized suspension of the 2026 dividend and issuance of up to €5 billion of hybrid bonds to preserve a strong balance sheet. These are dated company disclosures, not a guarantee about future distributions or financing decisions.

Is Stellantis generating free cash flow?
Q2 2026 industrial free cash flow was positive €1.0 billion, but H1 2026 remained negative €921 million. The first-half result improved from negative €3.005 billion in H1 2025 and included cash outflows related to charges from H2 2025. The contrast is why a single positive quarter should be treated as progress rather than proof of sustained cash generation.
Industrial free cash flow is Stellantis’ company-defined, non-GAAP industrial cash measure. It starts with cash flows from operating activities, removes discontinued and financial-services operating cash flows and industrial investment in property, plant, equipment, and intangible assets, and adjusts for certain joint-venture investments, intercompany payments, asset disposals, and pension contributions. It is not interchangeable with IFRS operating cash flow or a generic free-cash-flow formula.
The company warns that receivables monetization, factoring, payables timing, and other working-capital movements can shift industrial free cash flow between periods. When tracking recovery, compare successive periods, account for investment and material one-off payments, and reconcile the company’s measure with operating cash flow. FY 2025’s negative €4.525 billion provides the annual comparison point.

What is Stellantis’ outlook for 2026?
After Q2, management reaffirmed 2026 expectations for mid-single-digit net revenue growth, a low-single-digit adjusted operating margin, and improved industrial free cash flow year over year. The company’s cash outlook includes approximately €2 billion in 2026 payments related to charges from H2 2025; €0.9 billion had been paid during H1. Stellantis also said it expects positive industrial free cash flow in 2027. These are forecasts, not reported results, and should be checked against later filings. The guidance appears in the Q2 2026 release and the FY 2025 release.
Can these results tell me whether Stellantis stock is cheap?
No. Operating results help evaluate the business, but they do not establish whether its shares are attractively priced. That judgment also requires a dated share price, a transparent valuation method, and appropriate assumptions about future earnings or cash flow. The company results cited here do not establish a current valuation multiple, peer comparison, consensus forecast, or independent fair value. Do not treat management’s operating guidance as a price target.
A useful next step is to track whether quarterly adjusted margins improve without recurring large exclusions, whether industrial free cash flow turns positive across a full year after investment, and whether industrial net debt and liquidity remain manageable as the product plan is funded. Reassess those outcomes against the share price and valuation inputs available at the time of an investment decision.
