Can You Buy Robux With a Microsoft Gift Card?

Yes. Redeem the Microsoft gift card to the Microsoft account you’ll use, then buy Robux through an eligible Microsoft or Xbox purchase flow that offers account balance at checkout. You cannot redeem a Microsoft gift-card code on Roblox’s gift-card redemption page: it adds Microsoft account balance, not Roblox Credit.

How to buy Robux with Microsoft account balance

1. Redeem the card to the right Microsoft account. Follow Microsoft’s gift-card redemption instructions. The balance belongs to the Microsoft account that redeems the code.

2. Open an eligible Roblox purchase flow. Sign in to the Roblox account that should receive the Robux in the updated Roblox app or another eligible Microsoft/Xbox purchase flow. Xbox Wire reported on September 12, 2025, that the updated Roblox app supports Robux purchases with a Microsoft account and that the resulting Robux balance carries across devices, including Xbox consoles: Xbox Wire’s report on the updated Roblox app.

3. Check the checkout screen before confirming. Microsoft says account balance can pay for eligible games and in-app purchases, but the payment options offered depend on the purchase and regional setup. Use the balance only if it appears as a payment option for that Robux purchase. See Microsoft’s guidance on adding and using account balance.

4. Cover any shortfall if checkout allows it. Microsoft says account balance is used first; another payment option may cover the remaining amount. The available options depend on the transaction.

Microsoft balance and Roblox Credit are different

A Microsoft gift card adds funds to your Microsoft account balance. It does not create Roblox Credit or a Roblox gift-card code. Microsoft says its balance can be used for eligible Microsoft Store games and in-app purchases, but generally cannot be used to buy gift certificates or similar payment products, except where required by law.

Roblox Credit comes from a Roblox gift card and is a separate balance. Roblox says it can be used to purchase Robux in a web browser, but it cannot be viewed or spent in Roblox apps. Its standard gift-card redemption instructions are for Roblox gift cards or promotional codes—not Microsoft codes—and redemption is normally browser-based, with a Samsung Galaxy app exception. The standard Roblox app and consoles do not provide that redemption screen. See Roblox’s gift-card instructions.

If Microsoft balance is missing at checkout

• Confirm that you redeemed the code to the Microsoft account signed in to the purchase flow; the balance is tied to that account.

• Make sure you are using an eligible Microsoft/Xbox Roblox purchase flow, rather than entering the code on Roblox’s gift-card page.

• Check the checkout options for that specific purchase. Payment methods can vary by region, account, and implementation; Microsoft balance is not guaranteed to appear for every Robux transaction.
