July wheat futures: May 20 closing prices

All three July wheat contracts finished higher, though their gains and closing prices differed. Successful Farming reported these figures in its May 20, 2025 market update.
Morning quote versus the closing price
At 8:43 a.m. CT, Successful Farming’s morning update listed July CBOT wheat up 13¾¢ at $5.42¾ per bushel. That was an intraday snapshot; the contract later closed at $5.46, up 17¢ for the day. The closing update was published at 3:03 p.m. CT.
What market commentators said about the rise
Karl Setzer, partner at Consus Ag Consulting, said: “Corn, soybeans, and wheat were solidly higher through most of today’s session as managed money buyers returned to the market.” He also pointed to a weather-related risk premium amid forecasts for drier conditions in the western U.S. and wetter conditions in the east. His remarks addressed broader market risks and corn planting conditions; they do not establish a wheat-specific cause.

In the morning update, The Brock Report said: “Wheat futures are at eight- to nine-session highs on support from a drop in the U.S. winter wheat crop rating and hot, dry weather in some of China’s key winter wheat provinces.” These are attributed market observations, not independent proof that any single factor caused the day’s gain.

Successful Farming also reported July corn up 7¢ to $4.54½ per bushel and July soybeans up 2¼¢ to $10.53 per bushel at the May 20 close. These figures are broader grain-market context, not comparisons between wheat contracts.
