No—buying someone else’s Cash App account is not a safe or policy-supported shortcut in the United States. Cash App’s U.S. policy prohibits transferring account access or rights to another person unless the transfer is by operation of law or Cash App expressly permits it. Open your own account and complete Cash App’s identity-verification steps instead.
Why buying an account is not a safe shortcut
Cash App’s U.S. Acceptable Use Policy says users may not “transfer your account access or rights to your account to a third party, unless by operation of law or with the express permission of the Company.” It also restricts accessing the service using another party’s account information except where that person expressly authorizes it. These are platform-policy rules, not a claim that every possible transfer is criminal or illegal in every jurisdiction. Read Cash App’s U.S. Acceptable Use Policy.

A purchased login also does not reliably give you a usable account. Cash App’s U.S. Terms of Service describe Restricted, Prepaid, Debit Flex and Business account types. A Restricted Account has limited functionality; upgrading to a Prepaid or Debit Flex Account requires personal information and identity verification. Cash App says it may downgrade, suspend or terminate an account, or restrict services, if information is inaccurate, untrue or incomplete. When an account is accessed from a new device, additional authentication may be required; if Cash App cannot verify the account, it may require a new account. How to spot a dangerous account-sale offer
Do not treat a seller’s screenshots, emails or social-media claims as proof that an account or balance is real. Cash App specifically warns about fake payment confirmations, money-flip promises, impostor support messages, overpayment schemes and pressure to act quickly. It advises checking payment status inside the app, not from a screenshot or email. Cash App’s scam guidance also says peer-to-peer payments can be difficult to reverse after completion, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.

- Upfront deposit or release fee: Do not send money to reserve an account or supposedly unlock its credentials or balance.
- Requests for a sign-in code, password or PIN: Do not disclose them. A seller or person claiming to be support should not need your authentication details.
- Guaranteed balance, profits or a “money flip”: Treat promises of guaranteed returns as a warning sign, not evidence of a legitimate account.
- Urgency or off-app instructions: Pressure to act immediately or to verify a payment through a message rather than Cash App is a reason to stop.
- Claims of official support: Cash App says it will not ask you to send money or verify information outside the app. Reach support through official in-app channels instead. Cash App’s getting-started guidance.
What to do if you have not paid
- Stop the transaction. Do not send a deposit, release fee or payment for credentials.
- Do not share access details. Keep your password, PIN and sign-in codes private.
- Verify only in Cash App. If someone claims to have paid you, check the transaction in the app itself; do not rely on a screenshot or email. Cash App explains how to respond to scams.
- Report suspicious activity through official support. Use the app rather than contact information provided by the seller.
What to do if you already paid or shared credentials
- Report the payment in Cash App promptly. Open the transaction and use the in-app reporting options, then contact Cash App through official in-app support. Cash App recommends prompt reporting; a refund is not guaranteed, particularly for a payment you authorized. Cash App’s security guidance.
- Secure your account. Turn on Security Lock with a face, fingerprint or PIN; review activity; and lock your Cash App Card if needed. Cash App also recommends real-time alerts and reporting scams in the app. See the account-security options.
- Contact your bank or card issuer if you used its funds. Tell the institution what happened and ask about its dispute process. Do not assume it can reverse a payment you authorized.
- Change reused credentials. If you shared a password that you also use elsewhere, change it on those services and enable their available security protections.
The legitimate way to get a Cash App account
Download Cash App from an official app store, create an account for yourself and provide the information Cash App requests. Complete identity verification if you want functionality that requires it.
