British Airways has not confirmed that its A380 retrofit has entered service. IAG’s 2025 prospectus said work would start at the end of 2025; BA’s current A380 page now says the first refurbished aircraft is expected to fly “in the coming months,” without giving an exact date. The programme redesigns all four cabins, including 12 new First suites and a 106-seat Club World cabin across the entire upper deck.
When will the refurbished British Airways A380 fly?
The original H2 2025 wording described a planned start, not a confirmed first flight. IAG’s 2025 prospectus said BA would begin retrofitting its A380s at the end of 2025. BA’s current A380 page says the first refurbished aircraft is expected to take to the skies “in the coming months,” but does not give a date. Reporting by The Points Guy on October 6, 2026, also said the entry-into-service date remained unclear.
BA has not published a confirmed first route, a retrofit pace or a fleet-wide completion date in these sources. IAG’s 2025 prospectus listed 12 A380s in its fleet table, whose baseline was December 31, 2024; that fleet count does not establish how many aircraft will be finished by a particular date.
What is changing across the cabins?
The retrofit is not limited to First Class. BA says it is updating seating in all four cabins, alongside interior finishes, amenity kits, bedding and menus. The airline says each aircraft involves more than 35,000 individual parts. BA chairman and CEO Sean Doyle described the work as “one of the most significant transformations we’ve ever undertaken on any aircraft.”

What will the new First Class be like?
BA’s current A380 page describes 12 private suites, each with a fully flat 6-foot-7-inch bed and a 60-inch privacy wall. The listed features also include an ottoman for dining together, a wardrobe and a minibar. The airline has not provided a complete public specification on that page for every element of the suite.
In a separate announcement dated November 25, 2024, BA specified a 36.5-inch-wide seat, a 79-inch bed and a 32-inch 4K screen. Those dimensions belong to that dated announcement; it also forecast the aircraft would fly in mid-2026, a prediction superseded by the more recent, non-specific “coming months” language on BA’s current page.

How is Club World changing?
BA plans to make the entire upper deck a 106-seat Club World cabin, rather than dividing that deck among cabin types. BA describes the seat as an evolution of its Club Suite, with direct aisle access, privacy doors, a fully flat bed and added storage. The cabin will be arranged in four zones. BA has characterized it as the world’s largest business-class cabin; that is the airline’s claim, not an independently established ranking here.

BA has not confirmed which routes will receive refurbished A380s, and an aircraft assignment can change. A route alone therefore cannot guarantee the new cabin. If a particular product matters to your trip, check the aircraft and cabin information close to departure and be prepared for a possible aircraft swap.
