British Airways’ reported list includes eight destinations where A380 flying ended or was paused: Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Madrid, Vancouver, Doha, Chicago O’Hare, Washington Dulles and Dubai. They are not eight equivalent commercial route cancellations: Frankfurt and Madrid were training deployments, Doha was a temporary support operation, and Dubai is reported as a seasonal schedule pause rather than a confirmed permanent withdrawal.
British Airways A380 routes that ended or paused
The list below reflects a 2026 route-history article by TIKET2.0. Its reported departure counts are secondary-source figures; the article does not identify the underlying schedule-data publisher. Treat the counts as claims reported by TIKET2.0, not as independently verified official statistics.
| Destination from London Heathrow | Reported end or pause | What the report says | Reported A380 departures |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong | 2020 | Service ended amid pandemic-era network cuts. | 2,329, reported by TIKET2.0 (2026) |
| Frankfurt | 2021 | Training and crew familiarisation; not regular commercial service. | 92, reported by TIKET2.0 (2026) |
| Madrid | 2021 | Training deployment; not regular commercial service. | 25, reported by TIKET2.0 (2026) |
| Vancouver | 2022 | Seasonal service described as discontinued. | 726, reported by TIKET2.0 (2026) |
| Doha | 2023 | World Cup support flying for Qatar Airways, rather than a regular BA commercial route. | 52, reported by TIKET2.0 (2026) |
| Chicago O’Hare | 2023 | Regular A380 service reportedly ended. | 875, reported by TIKET2.0 (2026) |
| Washington Dulles | 2025 | A380 service reportedly replaced by smaller widebody aircraft. | 1,978, reported by TIKET2.0 (2026) |
| Dubai | Winter 2026/27 | Reportedly removed from that winter’s schedule. A return in winter 2027/28 is possible but unconfirmed. | 867, reported by TIKET2.0 (2026) |
The chronology and counts are attributed to TIKET2.0’s route-history report. The figures are not a measure of current service frequency or a guarantee about a future flight.
Why the eight entries do not all mean a cancelled BA route
Training and special-purpose flying
Frankfurt and Madrid are described as crew-familiarisation deployments, not regular commercial A380 routes. Doha is described as a World Cup support stint for Qatar Airways. Including these destinations in a list of places where BA A380 flying ended does not mean BA previously sold them as ordinary A380 passenger services.

Commercial service that ended or changed
The report characterises Hong Kong and Chicago O’Hare as regular commercial operations that ended, Vancouver as discontinued seasonal service, and Washington Dulles as a route where smaller widebodies replaced the A380. These are descriptions from the secondary report, not a historical route archive published by BA.
Dubai is a schedule pause, not a confirmed permanent withdrawal
The reported change applies to winter 2026/27. TIKET2.0 says a return in winter 2027/28 is possible, but no return has been formally announced in the cited material. It is therefore more accurate to say Dubai is absent from the reported winter 2026/27 A380 schedule than to call the route permanently cancelled.

Is British Airways still flying the A380?
Yes, filed schedules indicate that BA’s A380 assignments continue on some routes, while changing by flight and date. AeroRoutes reported that a Heathrow–Singapore rotation was scheduled to move to the A380 from September 6, 2026. Its April 2026 filing also said BA269/268 to Los Angeles was planned to change from the A380 to a 777-300ER from October 25, 2026.
An October 2025 AeroRoutes filing listed one daily A380 on Heathrow–Dallas/Fort Worth from May 21 through October 14, 2026, and an A380 substitution on Miami flight BA209/208 from October 15, 2026. These are filed plans, not guarantees that a particular aircraft will operate on a given day. The reports are available from AeroRoutes’ April 2026 filing and its October 2025 filing.

This is why a destination-level list can be misleading: an airline can change the aircraft assigned to one rotation or flight number without ending all service to that destination. A schedule filing describes a plan; an individual flight can still receive an operational aircraft change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to check the aircraft for a specific BA flight
- Open British Airways’ timetable and travel information page and search using the route, travel date and BA flight number.
- Check the flight assignment for the exact date rather than assuming that every flight to a destination uses the same aircraft.
- For travel within 14 days, use BA’s arrivals and departures information for current flight details. BA warns that some flights displayed in its timetable may not be bookable.
- Recheck before travel. BA says its timetable can be viewed up to a year ahead, changes twice a year for seasonal schedules, and may be adjusted during the year for operational needs.
BA’s guidance explains: “We change timetables twice a year so we can offer desired flights for each season.” The airline’s timetable is the more relevant source for a planned journey, but it does not guarantee the aircraft ultimately flown.
