The 2026 amounts are from distinct solicitations and are reported by Abierto’s records, which match federal solicitation and award information. In the pork-picnic record, $1,162,765.07 is the amount obligated to JBS, not the entire solicitation’s value. The ham record’s $504,000 is likewise a separate award. These figures should not be combined into a single total without a defined period and a consistent measure of award value.
Did JBS win more than other pork companies?
Not in every cited purchase. In January 2025, Smithfield received more pork picnic by both volume and dollars: 200,100 pounds and $258,129, compared with JBS’s 160,080 pounds and $217,956.94. That notice shows JBS was a substantial awardee, but not the largest in that purchase.

The August and September 2026 records list multiple vendors, but the figures presented here do not establish a ranking of every vendor across all USDA pork contracts. To determine who won the most in a particular procurement, compare awards for the same solicitation by pounds and dollars, and account for the commodity, product specification, award date, offers, and delivery period. A vendor can lead in dollars without leading in volume.

What USDA buys pork for
These are bulk commodity purchases, not consumer retail contracts. USDA’s Commodity Procurement Program buys food for food-assistance and domestic distribution programs. The awards concern specified products and quantities procured through particular solicitations; they do not mean that a consumer is buying directly from JBS through USDA.

A separate USDA enforcement matter
USDA announced on May 18, 2026, that JBS USA Food Company and Swift Pork Company agreed to pay a $5,000 civil penalty to resolve an alleged Packers and Stockyards Act violation involving livestock-scale test reporting. USDA said the company had submitted a scale test report on January 30, 2026, as corrective action.
