Stephanie Pope stopped holding Boeing’s chief operating officer title on February 19, 2025, according to a company filing. She did not leave Boeing: the filing says she continued as executive vice president and president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
What changed—and what did not
Boeing’s February 25, 2025 Form 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission says that, effective February 19, Pope “no longer held the title of Chief Operating Officer of The Boeing Company.” The same filing says she continued as “Executive Vice President; President and Chief Executive Officer, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.” Read Boeing’s Form 8-K.
That is a change in title and remit, not a report that Pope left the company. The filing does not state why she stopped holding the COO title, so it does not establish a reason or describe the change as a demotion.

Why is Stephanie Pope no longer Boeing COO?
Boeing’s Form 8-K gives the effective date and her continuing position, but it does not explain why she no longer held the COO title. Boeing’s earlier appointment announcement and its later filing establish the sequence of roles, not the reason for the change. Any specific explanation would go beyond what those documents say.
