Then check fit, ventilation, sole stiffness, closure, and whether cleats are included. Peloton’s shoes are one option, but compatible third-party shoes can work too; confirm the pedal and exact shoe listing before ordering.
What shoes work with a Peloton Bike?
Peloton’s compatibility guide says its Bike clip-in setup uses three-bolt cleats, also called Look Delta. A shoe is not compatible just because it is marketed for indoor cycling: its cleat mount must match the pedals fitted to your specific bike. Check the bike’s pedal model and the shoe’s stated cleat compatibility before buying. Peloton’s cycling-shoe guide explains the compatibility basics.
Some third-party models support more than one cleat standard, while others are sold without cleats. Tom’s Guide describes the Shimano RC1 as designed for Delta cleats, with clips sold separately; its reviewed Venzo shoes supported Delta and SPD and came bundled with Delta clips. These are descriptions of the versions reviewed, not a guarantee for every retailer listing or package. Check the current product details and verify what is in the box.
Peloton and third-party shoes to compare
There is no single best shoe for every rider. The publications below identify options worth comparing, but their selections are not a verified reconstruction of a particular 13-shoe list, and their rankings should be attributed to those publications.
#1 Best Overall
- DESIGNED FOR PELOTON BIKE and BIKE plus – Peloton shoes were designed so that you can get the ideal Peloton workout experience. They include delta-compatible bike cleats that allow you to quickly clip in and out of your Peloton Bike or Bike plus. Assembly required, tools for cleat installation included.
- FIT – Peloton shoes run true to the size of your everyday shoe. Narrow to normal fit. If you fall between sizes or have a wider foot, we recommend sizing up. Typically, cycling shoes should fit similarly to running sneakers—space for your toes to wiggle and complete arch support.
- ADJUSTABLE and SECURE FIT – Peloton shoes feature a quick ratchet clip and hook and loop straps that are adjustable so you can get the perfect fit.
- COMFORTABLE and BREATHABLE – Mesh vents can be found on the base of Peloton shoes so your feet can breathe comfortably throughout your ride.
- RIDE LONGER DURING CLASS – Stiff sole allows for direct and optimal power transfer without any discomfort allowing you to ride longer class after class.

| Nike SuperRep and Fizik Tempo R5 Overcurve | Live Science’s 2026 guide compares these options alongside Peloton, Shimano RC1, and Venzo shoes. | Confirm cleat mount, cleats in the box, fit, and current availability in the listing you are considering. |
| Giro Cadet, Shimano SH-IC501, Fizik Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave, and Specialized S-Works Torch | Cyclingnews’ 2026 indoor-shoe guide covers these models. | Confirm compatibility with your bike’s pedals; an indoor-cycling label alone does not establish a Delta match. |

How to choose: fit and comfort first
Check width and toe-box room
Peloton says its shoe runs true to everyday shoe size and has a narrow-to-normal fit, recommending that riders size up if they have wider feet or fall between sizes. Live Science also describes the Peloton shoe as tending narrow, especially at the toe box. Treat those details as specific to that shoe, not a sizing rule for every brand. If possible, use the manufacturer’s sizing chart and a retailer with clear return terms; your toes should not feel cramped when the shoe is fastened.

Consider ventilation for indoor rides
Indoor riding can make airflow a practical comfort factor. Peloton’s Canadian product page describes a breathable upper and mesh vent. Other shoes differ in upper construction, so compare the model’s ventilation details rather than assuming all cycling shoes feel equally cool.
Match stiffness to your use
Sole stiffness is one of the factors Peloton recommends considering. A stiffer sole can feel more supportive under pedaling pressure, while a more flexible shoe may be easier to walk in; the right balance depends on how you ride and how much you need to move around in the shoes. The guides cited here do not establish a universal performance advantage for one stiffness level.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need to buy cleats separately?
Not always. Peloton’s Canadian shoe product page says cleats are included. Tom’s Guide says cleats are sold separately with the Shimano RC1 version it describes, while the Venzo version it reviewed came bundled with Delta clips. Packaging can vary by model, retailer, and listing, so check the box contents rather than relying on the shoe name alone. If cleats are not included, buy a set that matches both the shoe mount and your bike’s pedals.

- Check package contents: Look for an explicit statement about whether compatible cleats are included.
- Assess fit: Check the size chart, width guidance, toe-box shape, and return terms for the exact shoe.
- Compare ride comfort: Consider ventilation, sole stiffness, closure adjustment, and ease of walking for your own routine.
- Recheck the listing: Models, sizes, prices, stock, and bundles can change; verify current details before checkout.
What “according to indoor cyclists” can and cannot tell you
Without the original article or its testing records, the 13 selections and the cyclists’ identities, criteria, and test methods cannot be established. The current comparisons from Tom’s Guide, Live Science, and Cyclingnews are separate editorial guides; their picks should not be presented as the original group’s tested list.
Live Science attributes a stability explanation to Marie Napier, personal trainer and head trainer of Ride at Psycle: “Three bolt cleats will give the rider a more stable connection to the pedals because the cleat and pedal have a greater surface to clip into.” The same article reports her advice to prioritize comfort and compatibility over small differences in power transfer. These are Napier’s comments as reported by Live Science, not independent test results for the shoes listed above.
