Best Buy Canada’s Outlet collection brings together clearance and open-box products, including TVs, laptops, tablets, headphones and major appliances. The key distinction is condition and the retailer’s stated coverage: Best Buy says clearance items have the full manufacturer’s warranty and the same returns as other new items, while its open-box description specifies inspected and tested products with a minimum six-month warranty. Stock and item-level terms vary, so check the specific listing before you buy.
What you can find in Best Buy Canada’s Outlet
The Best Buy Canada Outlet collection features clearance and open-box merchandise across electronics and appliance categories. The retailer names laptops, TVs, tablets, headphones and major appliances as examples. The collection does not establish a separate smart-home category, so check the live listings if you are looking for a connected appliance or other smart-home product.
Best Buy describes Outlet quantities as limited; a product may no longer be available once it sells out. Treat displayed inventory, prices and models as changeable rather than assuming a deal will remain in stock.
Clearance and open-box are different conditions
Clearance
Best Buy says clearance products carry the full manufacturer’s warranty and have the same returns as any other new item. That is the retailer’s general description; check the specific product page and current return policy for the item you intend to purchase.

Open box
Best Buy describes open-box products as like-new, with original accessories, and says they are inspected, tested and verified to work. The retailer states they come with a minimum six-month warranty. These are descriptions of the Outlet category, not a substitute for checking the condition, included accessories and warranty details shown for an individual unit.
Refurbished listings
Best Buy’s 2025 article about its Appliance Clearance Centre discusses major appliances described as open box, refurbished or clearance, and says qualifying products have original manufacturer warranty coverage and may be eligible for Geek Squad Protection plans. That article is context about the clearance centres; it does not establish terms for every item in the Outlet collection. Follow the current listing for any refurbished product you find.

What to check before buying
Compare the exact item and its terms rather than relying on the Outlet label alone. For a meaningful comparison with a new product or another offer, check:
- Condition: Is the item listed as clearance, open box or refurbished?
- Model and contents: Confirm the exact model number and which accessories are included.
- Price: Compare with the current new price for that same model, not just a different version in the same product line.
- Warranty: Confirm the provider, duration and terms attached to the individual listing.
- Returns: Read the applicable return conditions and window for that product.
- Fulfilment: Check stock for your location and the available delivery or pickup details. For appliances, verify any installation or other service arrangements separately.
For an appliance-specific search, Best Buy’s Appliance Clearance Centre article offers additional retailer context, but its general description should not replace the current listing’s terms.
