Behaviour Interactive announced on June 4, 2024, that it planned structural changes and a reduction of up to 95 employees, including 70 people based in Montreal. The company stated a maximum, not a confirmed final layoff count.

In its June 4, 2024 announcement, the Montreal-based game developer said it would clarify the division of resources across product, production, business development and marketing. Behaviour described the move as a strategic restructuring during what it called a challenging period for the games industry, where growth had brought increased competition.
The company said it had grown from 575 to 1,300 employees over the previous five years. It presented the restructuring as a way to focus on three ambitions: leading in horror, leading in service, and exploring location-based entertainment. Those are Behaviour’s stated rationale and plans; they do not establish the restructuring’s eventual results.
What the announced job figure means
Behaviour said the team reduction could affect up to 95 employees, 70 of them based in Montreal. “Up to” is material: the announcement reports the maximum planned reduction, not a verified count of people ultimately laid off. The available account does not establish the final number or the completed organizational changes.

What the company said would remain unaffected
Behaviour said neither its service business nor development of Dead by Daylight would be affected. The company also said it would support affected employees as they pursued their next career step. These were contemporaneous company statements; they do not independently establish how delivery was affected or what assistance each employee received.
Co-founder and CEO Rémi Racine said: “I would like to express my deep personal appreciation for any employee affected by today’s changes.” That statement expressed appreciation, but does not specify the support provided.

Behaviour said Dead by Daylight had attracted more than 60 million players since its 2016 release. That is the company’s figure from the June 2024 announcement.

In April 2026, Behaviour confirmed another reduction, but the cited report did not disclose a headcount. It attributed that later move to declining demand for external mobile and casual development partnerships. This was a separate event with a separately stated rationale, not a later count for the June 2024 restructuring. Behaviour’s newsroom also lists subsequent corporate activity, including its March 2026 acquisition of The Fun Pimps; that activity does not establish the outcome of the 2024 changes.
