The available record does not prove that TechSavings.com was the new name for EMSComputing.com. A September 2002 AnandTech forum thread reported a transaction receipt showing both names and included conflicting customer accounts. A May 2003 ResellerRatings excerpt also linked the names in consumer discussion, but neither source is an authoritative record of corporate ownership or a legal name change.
What the September 2002 thread says
An AnandTech discussion opened on September 11, 2002, with a poster warning readers about a friend’s TechSavings.com purchase. The poster said the friend’s credit-card receipt showed “EmsComputing/Techsavings.” That is a forum participant’s account of a receipt, not an independently verified corporate record. Read the AnandTech thread.
The example involved Logitech Z-560 speakers. According to the opening post, the friend had previously ordered from EMS Computing under a free-shipping offer, then ordered the speakers from TechSavings for $121 plus $19 shipping. The post said the friend received the speakers. Other participants disputed whether the earlier EMS promotion applied to the later TechSavings order, so the shipping charge alone does not establish that a promised offer was withdrawn.
Why customer accounts in the thread conflict
Some participants described delayed or canceled orders, difficulty reaching the retailer, and disputes or delays over refunds. Others reported satisfactory service or challenged how the complaints interpreted the transactions. These are individual posts and counterposts; the thread does not independently establish the underlying facts or support a general conclusion about every order.

What the May 2003 review excerpt adds
A May 27, 2003, ResellerRatings excerpt includes a reviewer asserting that TechSavings and EMS Computing were the same company and reproduces a response referring to an EMS Computing order. This shows that some consumers—and a response appearing in the excerpt—used the names in related contexts. It does not establish legal ownership, corporate succession, or an official name change. The excerpt is not a corporate filing or regulator finding. See the ResellerRatings listing.
What can and cannot be concluded
- Supported by the sources: In September 2002, a forum poster reported a receipt bearing both names, and participants described mixed experiences with orders and refunds.
- Also supported, with limits: A May 2003 review excerpt associated the names in consumer discussion and a reproduced response.
- Not established: Whether the businesses were legally the same entity, whether one formally succeeded the other, whether anyone intentionally deceived customers, or whether either business or domain operates under the same ownership today.
Both sources are historical and largely user-generated. Neither is an authoritative corporate record, and the review excerpt does not settle the questions of ownership or succession. The evidence supports describing an alleged connection between the names—not presenting a legal name change or wrongdoing as proven.
