Wilson remain co-owners of the Bond intellectual property. The Associated Press reported earlier that Broccoli and Wilson had clashed with Amazon over the franchise’s direction; the available updates do not establish that a public clash continues after the agreement. As of Amazon MGM’s May 14, 2026 update, the next film had a named creative team but no announced Bond actor.
What the 2025 agreement changed
On February 20, 2025, Amazon MGM Studios, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson announced a new joint venture to house Bond intellectual property. The announcement said Amazon MGM would gain creative control when the transaction closed, while the parties would remain co-owners of the IP. Amazon MGM says the transaction closed on March 24, 2025. Amazon MGM’s announcement is the source for the deal terms and closing date.

That distinction matters: creative control concerns decisions about the films; co-ownership means the announcement did not describe Amazon MGM as the sole owner of Bond. Broccoli and Wilson also stepped back from producing the films. Wilson said he was stepping back after nearly 60 years to focus on art and charitable projects.
What is known about the reported clash
In its February 20, 2025 report, the Associated Press described Broccoli and Wilson as having reportedly clashed with Amazon MGM over the direction of Bond. That is contemporaneous reporting about the dispute preceding the agreement, not confirmation of private discussions or evidence that the disagreement persisted afterward. The subsequent deal established a new division of creative control and ownership, but neither the agreement nor the later update establishes the parties’ current private relationship. The next Bond film: announced team, unannounced actor
Amazon MGM’s May 14, 2026 update named the creative team then in place for the next film:
- Director: Denis Villeneuve
- Producers: Amy Pascal and David Heyman
- Executive producer: Tanya Lapointe
- Writer: Steven Knight
The update did not announce who will play Bond and said the studio would not comment on specific casting details during the process. It is a dated status update, not a guarantee that staffing or casting has not changed since. See Amazon MGM’s May 14, 2026 update.

Why “clashes continue” is not established
The phrase fits neither the clearest confirmed outcome nor the latest official project update. The evidence supports saying that a clash was reported in February 2025, followed by an agreement that gave Amazon MGM creative control while preserving co-ownership for the parties. The later update confirms that a film is in development with a named creative team; it does not report a continuing public dispute. Claims about an ongoing feud, an impasse, or the next Bond actor go beyond what these sources establish.
