What happened to Apple Card Savings’ interest rate?
MacRumors reported that Apple Card Savings’ APY dropped from 3.50% to 3.40% in June 2026. In September, 9to5Mac reported that it increased from 3.40% to 3.50% on September 22 or 23. These are reported changes, not a promise that the rate will remain at 3.50%.

Apple’s page labels its displayed 3.40% APY “as of June 4, 2026.” Since that date predates the September report, it should not be treated as confirmation or denial of the later change. For the rate currently applicable to your account, check Wallet.
What does the rate change mean for your interest?
APY is the annual percentage yield: a way of expressing the interest an account could earn over a year, assuming the stated rate and compounding conditions apply. As a simple illustration, $1,000 held for a year at a steady 3.50% APY would earn about $35; at a steady 3.40% APY, about $34. That arithmetic assumes the rate stays unchanged for the full year. With a variable APY, the actual amount can differ if the rate changes during the period.

Why did my Apple Card Savings rate go down?
The available reports establish that the APY changed, but do not give a reason for the June reduction or the September increase. Apple says the APY may change at any time before or after an account is opened, so a change in the displayed rate is consistent with a variable-rate account.
Apple announced in January 2026 that Chase would become the issuer of Apple Card, with further transition details to come as the transition date approached. That announcement does not say the issuer transition caused either Savings APY change, and it does not establish that the transition was complete by September 2026.

Who provides Apple Card Savings, and who can open it?
Apple identifies Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch as the provider of Apple Card Savings. Apple says eligible Apple Card owners and co-owners may apply, subject to eligibility requirements. Savings is accessed through Apple Card and Wallet. Apple also says future Daily Cash is directed to the selected Savings destination unless the customer changes that election.
