“October Prime Day” is a common way to refer to Amazon’s fall shopping event, but its official name is Prime Big Deal Days. Amazon describes it as a shopping event for Prime members; membership requirements and event availability may vary by market.
Why does October 8–9 appear as the date?
Those were the official U.S. dates for Prime Big Deal Days in 2024, not 2026. Amazon’s 2024 announcement confirms October 8–9. The dates change from year to year, so an older result or article can give the wrong dates for the current event.

How long do you have to return a Prime Big Deal Days purchase?
Amazon’s general guidance is that most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, but that is not a guarantee for every product or order. Eligibility, deadline, refund method, and any applicable shipping, late, damage, or restocking fees depend on the item and purchase circumstances. Amazon’s event FAQ does not announce a special extended return window for Prime Big Deal Days.
- Open Your Orders in your Amazon account.
- Find the purchase and select its return option.
- Check the order-specific return deadline, eligibility, available refund or exchange options, and any fees before sending the item back.
Amazon’s returns and refunds help page explains the general policy. The return flow for the specific order is the practical place to confirm what applies to that purchase.

How to judge whether a deal is still worth buying
- Check the current price against price history. Amazon says supported product pages offer a price-history view covering up to 365 days. A discount label alone does not show whether today’s price is low relative to that item’s own past prices.
- Confirm it is still available. Event deals are limited-time and may be available only while supplies last, according to Amazon’s event FAQ.
- Factor in the return terms. Review the order’s return deadline and eligibility before treating the purchase as a risk-free trial.
Amazon executives describe the event as a way to prepare for holiday hosting, decorating, and gifting, but those promotional claims are not independent evidence that a listed price is the best available.
