Amazon’s Luxembourg European headquarters was included in the company’s late-2025 restructuring. A local social plan signed on December 12, 2025, covered 370 positions, down from an initial proposal of 470. By October 2, 2026, fewer than 250 of the 370 positions had resulted in termination notifications, according to an unnamed staff-delegation member cited by Luxembourg Times. That interim count is not a confirmed tally of employees who left.
What the Luxembourg job-cut figures mean
| Figure | What it describes | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 470 | Initial proposal for cuts in Luxembourg | Reported by Luxembourg Times in its coverage of the local negotiations; not the signed plan. |
| 370 | Positions covered by the signed Luxembourg social plan | Luxembourg Times reported that Amazon and the staff delegation signed the agreement on December 12, 2025. |
| Fewer than 250 | Positions that had resulted in termination notifications so far | Luxembourg Times, October 2, 2026, citing an unnamed staff-delegation member. Amazon did not provide the newspaper with figures for notifications, internal moves, or actual departures. |
| 14,000 | Corporate roles in Amazon’s global restructuring announcement | Amazon announced this global figure on October 28, 2025. It is separate from the Luxembourg social-plan total. |
The numbers describe different stages and scopes: 470 was the proposed local figure, 370 the negotiated plan, and fewer than 250 the reported number of termination notifications by October 2026. A notification does not establish that a worker had already left the company.
How Amazon’s Luxembourg plan developed
Global announcement
On October 28, 2025, Amazon announced a reduction of 14,000 corporate roles worldwide. Senior vice president Beth Galetti described the change as organizational streamlining, writing that employees had worked on “strengthening your organizations by reducing layers, increasing ownership, and helping reduce bureaucracy.” The statement explained Amazon’s global rationale; it was not a specific explanation of the Luxembourg negotiations. Local negotiations
In Luxembourg, the initial proposal was reported as 470 cuts. Following negotiations with employee representatives, Amazon and the staff delegation signed a social plan covering 370 positions on December 12, 2025. Luxembourg Times’ report on the signed social plan

Interim status in October 2026
Luxembourg Times reported on October 2, 2026, that fewer than 250 positions had led to termination notifications so far, citing an unnamed staff-delegation member. The newspaper said the social plan could be used until the end of 2026. This is a reported timeframe, not confirmation that every remaining position will result in a cut. The report did not establish how many people had actually departed, and Amazon did not give the newspaper counts of notifications, internal transfers, or departures. What is still unknown
- The final number of affected employees who actually left Amazon has not been established by the cited reports.
- The fewer-than-250 figure is an interim count of termination notifications attributed to an unnamed staff-delegation member, not an employer-confirmed departure total.
- Amazon’s careers site displayed 111 open jobs for Luxembourg City in a listing snapshot updated September 29, 2026. That count does not show whether affected workers moved into internal roles or whether planned cuts were reversed. Amazon Jobs’ Luxembourg City listings
