HFM Launches New Cent Account with Cent Balance

HFM’s Cent Account uses a balance denominated in U.S. cents and smaller 1,000-unit contracts. Here are the current terms, platform details, restrictions and key changes since its 2023 launch.

HFM announced its Cent Account on January 25, 2023, initially describing it as a live account with a $5 minimum deposit. The account is still available, but that launch information is no longer the best guide to its terms. HFM’s current international account page lists a $0 minimum opening deposit, a USC-denominated balance and maximum leverage of 1:2000.

The important distinction is that the Cent Account combines two features: the account balance is shown in U.S. cents, and the contract size is smaller than the standard account specification. It is a live leveraged trading account—not a demo account and not a risk-free way to trade.

What HFM’s Cent Account balance means

HFM identifies the account currency as USC, rather than USD. Account values are therefore represented in cents. For example, an amount equivalent to $1 is displayed as 100 USC, while $5 is represented as 500 USC.

This is more than a different display format. HFM also defines one Cent Account lot as 1,000 units, compared with 100,000 units for a standard lot on its other main account types. The smaller contract specification reduces the notional size of the smallest available position.

Those two features should not be confused:

  • Cent denomination: the account balance and relevant thresholds are represented in U.S. cents.
  • Smaller contract size: one Cent Account lot represents 1,000 units, not 100,000 units.

HFM says the margin requirement can be as low as 10 U.S. cents, although the actual amount depends on the instrument, price, leverage and position size. A lower margin requirement does not eliminate the possibility of losses. Leverage can magnify both gains and losses, and positions may be closed if the account’s margin level falls far enough.

Current HFM Cent Account specifications

HFM’s current international English account page lists the following terms:

Feature Current specification
Account currency USC
Minimum opening deposit $0
Maximum leverage 1:2000
Spread From 1.4 pips
Commission No commission
Execution Market Execution
Contract size 1 lot = 1,000 units
Minimum trade size 0.01 lot
Trade-size increment 0.01 lot
Instruments Forex and Gold
Maximum position size 1,000 Cent Lots
Maximum total trade size 6,000 Cent Lots per account
Maximum simultaneous open orders 150
Margin call 50%
Stop-out level 20%
Swap-free status Available for specific instruments, subject to terms

The account is available through MT4, MT5, HFM WebTrader, HFM’s mobile trading products and HFM Platform. HFM says it supports more than 50 currency pairs, covering major, minor and exotic pairs, as well as Gold.

What you can—and cannot—trade

The current specification limits the Cent Account to Forex and Gold. It should not be treated as a smaller version of every HFM account type.

HFM’s broader account range includes products such as indices, energies, shares and cryptocurrencies, but those products are not listed for the Cent Account. HFM’s company-news information specifically says crypto CFD trading on MT5 excludes Cent accounts.

This limitation matters when comparing accounts. A trader who wants smaller forex exposure may find the Cent structure useful, while someone looking for cryptocurrencies or a broad multi-asset portfolio would need to check another account type.

How to open an HFM Cent Account

For new HFM clients

  1. Open HFM’s Cent Account page and select Open Cent Account.
  2. Complete the online registration form.
  3. Submit the identity and address documents requested by HFM.
  4. Wait for account approval.
  5. Fund the approved account and connect it to a supported trading platform.

For an individual live account, HFM currently lists a valid, unexpired passport or another photo ID—such as a national identity card or driving licence—as proof of identification. Proof of address can be a bank statement or utility bill issued within the previous six months that shows the client’s name and physical address.

For existing HFM clients

Existing clients can manage accounts through HFM’s Client Area, referred to as myHF in HFM’s FAQ materials. After logging in, look for Open Trading Account(s). HFM’s account-comparison interface may instead show an Open Account button, while the dedicated Cent page uses Open Cent Account.

HFM’s Client Area is also used for deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers and account management.

How to find Cent symbols in MT4 and MT5

Cent instruments use the suffix c. HFM gives EURUSDc and XAUUSDc as examples. The suffix is part of the symbol name, so a Cent Account user should not assume that the standard EURUSD or XAUUSD symbol will be available for trading.

To add the correct symbols:

  1. Open MT4 or MT5.
  2. Choose View from the top menu.
  3. Select Market Watch.
  4. Right-click inside the Market Watch window.
  5. Choose Symbols.
  6. Search for the instrument ending in c.
  7. Select the symbol and click Show Symbol.

If the symbol is no longer needed, close its chart, right-click it in Market Watch and select Hide.

How the position size differs from a standard account

The displayed lot number does not represent the same exposure on every HFM account. On the Cent Account, 1 lot equals 1,000 units, and the minimum order is 0.01 lot. On HFM’s other main account types, 1 standard lot is listed as 100,000 units.

That means a 0.01-lot order on a Cent Account is based on a much smaller contract than a 0.01-lot order on an account using the standard 100,000-unit specification. Traders should still check the platform’s contract details, tick value, margin and stop-out calculations before placing an order.

The account’s maximum leverage is listed as 1:2000, but maximum leverage is not necessarily available for every instrument, balance level or client jurisdiction. High leverage can make a small deposit support a larger position, but it also leaves less room for an adverse price movement before a margin call or stop-out.

Swap-free does not mean unconditional for every symbol

HFM labels the Cent Account as Swap free, and says that Cent clients observing Sharia law can receive swap-free trading conditions. However, HFM’s footnote limits the treatment to specific trading instruments and applicable terms and conditions.

Consequently, traders should check the swap information for the exact symbol they intend to hold overnight. The account label should not be interpreted as a permanent guarantee that every forex pair and Gold position will incur no overnight charge under all circumstances.

Availability depends on your jurisdiction

The original launch announcement described the account as available to all clients. That wording is outdated when read as a universal statement. HFM’s current account pages say the company does not offer services to residents of several jurisdictions, including the United States, Canada, Sudan, Syria, Iran, North Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Türkiye.

The complete restriction list can vary by HFM entity and website region. The entity that onboards the client, rather than an old global announcement, determines which account types, leverage limits and terms are available.

Inactivity and account archiving

There is no single inactivity rule that should be applied to every HFM Cent Account. The governing HFM entity and the client’s current agreement control.

For example, the March 2026 agreement for HF Markets (SV) Ltd says a Cent Account may be archived after 30 consecutive calendar days without financial or trading activity. The agreement includes a 100 USC balance threshold in its archiving provisions and says pending orders are deleted when an account is archived. Any remaining trading-account balance is transferred to the wallet balance. Restoration requires contacting HFM and is subject to HFM’s discretion.

A current South African agreement gives a different example: a Cent Account with a balance below 100 USC and no financial or trading activity may be archived after 15 calendar days. Clients should therefore read the agreement attached to their own HFM entity instead of relying on a general number.

How to view Cent Account trading history

HFM’s Client Area provides account performance and trade reports:

  1. Log in to the Client Area.
  2. Click the gear icon beside the relevant trading account.
  3. Select Performance to view the full history.
  4. Scroll to Trading Activity.
  5. Click Export to download the report.

To retrieve a specific period, select Trades, choose the required Period, click View and then select Export. HFM says the Trades view covers periods of up to three months.

What changed since the 2023 launch?

The $5 minimum deposit came from HFM’s January 25, 2023 launch announcement. HFM’s current Cent Account page now shows a $0 minimum opening deposit, so the old $5 figure should not be presented as the current requirement.

Other frequently repeated claims also need qualification:

  • “It supports every HFM instrument.” Current specifications list Forex and Gold, not the full HFM CFD range.
  • “A Cent Account is just a dollar account with a small deposit.” The balance is denominated in USC and the contract size is also different.
  • “Every 0.01-lot trade is equivalent to 0.01 standard lot.” The two account types use different contract sizes.
  • “It is automatically swap-free for everything.” HFM limits swap-free treatment to specific instruments and terms.
  • “The limits are always 200 Cent Lots per position and 1,000 overall.” Those figures appear on older or region-specific pages. HFM’s current international English page lists 1,000 Cent Lots per position and 6,000 Cent Lots overall.

FAQ

Is HFM’s Cent Account a demo account?

No. HFM classifies it as a live trading account. It uses a USC-denominated balance and smaller contract sizes, but trades are exposed to real spreads, execution conditions, leverage and losses.

What is the current minimum deposit for the HFM Cent Account?

HFM’s current international English account page lists a $0 minimum opening deposit. The $5 figure was stated in the January 25, 2023 launch announcement and is outdated as a current specification.

Can I trade crypto on an HFM Cent Account?

No. HFM’s current information limits the Cent Account to Forex and Gold. HFM also says crypto CFD trading on MT5 excludes Cent accounts.

Why can’t I find EURUSD on my Cent Account?

Cent symbols use the suffix c. In MT4 or MT5, look for EURUSDc rather than EURUSD. You can add it through View > Market Watch > right-click > Symbols > Show Symbol.

Is the HFM Cent Account risk-free?

No. It is a leveraged live CFD and forex account. The cent denomination and smaller contract size reduce the monetary scale of trades, but they do not remove market, spread, execution, leverage or stop-out risk.

Does the Cent Account have swap-free trading?

HFM labels the account swap-free, but its terms limit that treatment to specific instruments and conditions. Check the exact symbol and the agreement for your HFM entity before holding a position overnight.

The Bottom Line

HFM’s Cent Account is designed for live Forex and Gold trading at a smaller scale. Its current international terms show a USC balance, a $0 minimum opening deposit, 1,000-unit lots, no commission and leverage up to 1:2000. The account can be useful for traders who need smaller position sizes, but it is not a demo account or a substitute for risk management. Confirm the available instruments, leverage, inactivity rules and account limits for the HFM entity that serves your country before depositing funds.
