Looking back at 2025, Chainlink, Cosmos and Monero each had a distinct project-level case to watch: Chainlink tied network revenue to a new LINK reserve, Cosmos Labs focused on enterprise adoption and ATOM’s token fundamentals, and Monero continued privacy-related development. Those developments do not establish which token was likely to rise most, or whether any would deliver positive returns. For anyone considering a cold wallet, the evidence here does not confirm that a particular device currently supports all three assets.
Which altcoins had the most potential in 2025?
There is no evidence in the cited project materials that ranks LINK, XMR and ATOM by expected return. A more useful way to read the 2025 watchlist is to separate each project’s stated thesis from the evidence that might support it—and from the unanswered question of whether that activity benefits the token.
| Project and token | 2025 project-level thesis | Evidence and its limits |
|---|---|---|
| Chainlink (LINK) | Oracle and interoperability services, with a reserve intended to accumulate LINK from network revenue. | Chainlink announced the reserve mechanism and an early-stage balance; neither establishes future demand or price performance. Chainlink Reserve announcement |
| Cosmos Hub (ATOM) | Broader Cosmos stack adoption, with a stronger Hub and ATOM value proposition. | Cosmos Labs described opportunities and tokenomics work as priorities; these statements are not proof of commercial results or ATOM value capture. Cosmos Labs’ 2025 recap |
| Monero (XMR) | Continued development of a privacy-focused cryptocurrency and its protocol. | The project roadmap lists work in progress, not guaranteed delivery or a forecast for XMR. Monero roadmap |
These are not interchangeable bets: Chainlink’s thesis concerns network services, Cosmos’ concerns stack adoption and token value capture, and Monero’s concerns privacy and protocol development. The table summarizes each project’s stated case; the sections below distinguish announcements, roadmap status and the evidence still needed to assess those cases.
Is Chainlink a good crypto to watch?
Chainlink’s 2025 case centered on infrastructure services and a proposed connection between service revenue and LINK. On August 7, 2025, Chainlink announced its Reserve, saying it was designed to accumulate LINK using offchain revenue from large enterprises adopting the Chainlink standard and revenue from onchain service usage. Chainlink said Payment Abstraction converts payments made in supported forms into LINK.

At announcement time, Chainlink reported that the early-stage Reserve had accumulated over $1 million worth of LINK. That is a company-reported figure for the launch period, not a current balance; the cited announcement does not establish that it was independently audited. The planned conversion mechanism is evidence of a designed economic link, not proof that the mechanism will create enough demand to lift LINK’s market price.
For a present-day view of the service directory, Chainlink’s CCIP mainnet directory lists networks and tokens supported by CCIP. It is live documentation, accessed October 7, 2026, and can change. A listing shows service availability in that directory; it is not by itself a measure of usage quality or LINK value.

What is the difference between Cosmos and ATOM?
Cosmos refers to a broader technology stack and ecosystem; ATOM is the token associated with the Cosmos Hub. The distinction matters because adoption of Cosmos tools or chains does not automatically demonstrate that ATOM captures value from that activity.
In its 2025 recap, Cosmos Labs highlighted enterprise chains, tokenization, payments, IBC connectivity and Cosmos EVM as opportunities. It also said the Hub and ATOM needed stronger token fundamentals and described an ATOM tokenomics research and redesign process, alongside priorities for Hub staffing, delegation and technical improvements. These were the organization’s stated plans and priorities, not independently verified commercial outcomes. Cosmos Labs summarized its thesis this way: “The Cosmos Hub and ATOM can benefit from global finance moving on-chain, and Cosmos Labs is building a roadmap to capture that opportunity.” Cosmos Labs’ 2025 recap

What shipped, and what was still planned?
Cosmos Labs’ January 2025 roadmap update described proposed SDK and IBC changes and said it was prioritizing CosmWasm security work after customer feedback. A later 2026 roadmap retrospectively lists Cosmos SDK v0.53 and IBC v2 among selected 2025 releases. That later account is a project report of releases; it should not be confused with proposals in the January roadmap or with future targets.
The same 2026 roadmap says more than 200 chains had been built using Cosmos over seven years. This is a Cosmos Labs-published ecosystem figure, not evidence that ATOM captures value from all those chains. The page separately presents 2026 performance goals as targets, not completed results. Is Monero still being developed?
Monero’s official roadmap lists Full-Chain Membership Proofs and CARROT among work in progress, along with other privacy and protocol proposals. It also records earlier milestones, including RandomX, pruning and historical Ledger and Trezor hardware-wallet support. The roadmap is a project status page: an item marked in progress is not a completed feature, and activity on a roadmap does not predict XMR’s price.
For an investor evaluating the project thesis, the relevant distinction is between ongoing privacy-focused development and evidence that such development translates into sustained use or token value. The cited roadmap documents the former, but does not establish the latter. Monero roadmap

What cold wallet supports LINK, XMR and ATOM?
The sources reviewed do not establish current, model-specific hardware-wallet compatibility for all three assets or their transaction workflows. Monero’s roadmap records Ledger and Trezor support as historical milestones, but that does not confirm support in every current device model, nor does it confirm LINK and ATOM support.
Before choosing a cryptocurrency hardware wallet, verify each asset against the manufacturer’s current official compatibility information. Check the exact device model, the required companion or supported wallet software, and how transactions are signed and broadcast. A general claim that a device is a crypto hardware wallet is not enough to establish that it can securely handle all three assets in the way you intend.
How should you assess this historical watchlist?
Treat a project’s roadmap or company announcement as evidence of what it says it is building—not as a return forecast. To test any of these theses, look for evidence that connects activity to the named token: service revenue or usage and its relationship to LINK; measurable Hub adoption and a defined route to ATOM value capture; or evidence that Monero’s development supports continued use. The cited official materials do not provide a comparable answer across all three tokens, independent comparative valuation research, risk-adjusted performance data or a ranking by expected return.
This is a historical review of project theses framed around 2025, not a personalized financial recommendation. Token prices can fall as well as rise, and project execution, adoption and token economics can diverge.
