What Amazon offered in 2018
On November 5, 2018, Amazon announced free shipping with no minimum purchase for U.S. customers for a limited time. The offer covered hundreds of millions of items on orders expected to arrive in time for Christmas; Amazon said shipping typically took five to eight days. The announcement did not describe a permanent policy. Amazon’s 2018 announcement also quoted Doug Herrington, then the company’s senior vice president of North American Retail, describing the offer as a holiday promotion.

Does Amazon’s 2026 Prime event confirm a no-minimum offer?
No. Amazon’s September 14, 2026 announcement described Prime Big Deal Days, scheduled for October 6–7, as an event for Prime members and presented fast, free delivery as a Prime benefit. It does not announce free, no-minimum shipping for all customers during the 2026 holiday season. Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days announcement is not evidence of a separate holiday shipping promotion.
