American Airlines announced service from Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Phoenix (PHX) on June 26, 2024, with flights scheduled to begin October 7, 2024. The announcement also planned to increase DFW service from two daily flights to three starting November 5, 2024. These are historical launch details, not a current schedule; check American’s Provo booking page for itineraries and fares on your dates.
What American announced for Provo
Provo City’s June 26, 2024 announcement named two destinations from PVU: American’s hubs at DFW and PHX. The planned start date for both routes was October 7, 2024. The service was intended to give Provo-area travelers nonstop access to those hubs and one-stop connections onward through American’s network.
At the time, American Director of Domestic Network Planning Joe Sottile said the airline looked forward to “offering four daily flights to Provo starting this November.” That total reflected the announced schedule after the DFW increase: three daily DFW flights plus one daily PHX flight.

Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi described the DFW increase as a way to expand connections for business and leisure travelers. The city release said connections through DFW and PHX could reach more than 200 destinations; that was American’s contemporaneous network claim in 2024, not a current independently verified destination count.

Aircraft and seat configuration in the launch announcement
Provo City’s 2024 release described 65-seat Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft, configured with 9 business-class seats, 12 Main Cabin Extra seats, and 44 economy seats. This was the equipment configuration specified for the announced service; it does not establish which aircraft or seat map will operate a particular flight today.

A launch announcement cannot establish today’s availability, departure times, aircraft, fares, or fare rules. Those details depend on route and travel date. Use American’s current Provo page to search the actual itinerary before making a comparison. The airline cautions that displayed fares were collected recently and may no longer be available; some may be Basic Economy, and baggage or optional-service charges may apply.
