Prime Big Deal Days 2024 began October 8 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time and ran through October 9. “October Prime Day” is a common shorthand, not Amazon’s official event name. Amazon said the U.S. event also launched in multiple other markets; Japan’s event was scheduled for later in October. Who could shop the event?
Amazon described the event discounts as exclusive to Prime members. Its announcement said people who were not members could join or start an eligible trial. Any membership price mentioned in 2024 materials is historical and should not be treated as current pricing.

How to judge a deal rather than just a discount percentage
A percentage-off label alone cannot show whether an item is a bargain. For a specific product, compare the exact model and its current price with a credible recent price history, and check which products qualify for the offer. Also review who is selling the item and the return terms. The official event materials establish that these product families were featured, but do not validate individual price histories or identify the best bargains.

What shopping tools did Amazon recommend?
For the 2024 event, Amazon recommended enabling deal notifications for items in a Wish List, Cart or Save for Later. It also suggested checking back for new offers during the event, saying deals could appear as often as every five minutes during select periods. What did Amazon report after the event?
In its October 10, 2024 recap, Amazon said Prime members saved more than $1 billion globally across millions of deals and called Prime Big Deal Days its biggest October shopping event to date. Amazon also said more Prime members shopped than the prior year, but did not give a specific member count or growth rate in the cited recap. These are company-reported figures, not independently verified results.
