That figure counts active registered accounts—not distinct people—and is a quarterly average, not a live count of players online at once.
What Roblox’s Q2 2026 user figures show
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Roblox reported 123 million average DAUs and 29 billion hours engaged. The company said DAUs increased 10% year over year and hours engaged increased 5% year over year. Roblox’s Q2 2026 results are the latest figures covered here.
The year-over-year growth rate and the quarter-to-quarter change describe different comparisons. Q2’s 123 million average DAUs were below the 132 million Roblox reported for Q1 2026; hours engaged also declined from 31 billion in Q1 to 29 billion in Q2. Roblox’s Q1 2026 results provide the preceding-quarter figures.
| Metric | Q1 2026 | Q2 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Average DAUs | 132 million | 123 million; up 10% year over year |
| Hours engaged | 31 billion | 29 billion; up 5% year over year |
These are company-reported quarterly measures. They are not a count of concurrent users, a live player total, or a tally of unique individuals.

Does 123 million mean 123 million people?
No. Roblox defines a DAU as a user who logs in and visits through its website or application on a unique registered account on a calendar day. For a reporting period, average DAUs are the average of the daily DAU figures across that period. If a visit crosses calendar days, Roblox uses a rolling 24-hour treatment and counts the account on the first day.
Roblox says its DAU figure measures account activity, not distinct people: one person may use more than one account. The company also notes that undetected fraud or unauthorized account access can sometimes contribute to an overstatement. As a result, 123 million should be described as average active accounts under Roblox’s definition, not as a verified number of people who play every day. Roblox’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 explains the measure and its limitations.

What does “hours engaged” include?
Roblox’s 29 billion hours engaged is an estimated aggregate of user-session lengths, not a direct measure of uninterrupted gameplay. The company says its estimate can include time in games as well as Roblox Studio, chat, avatar personalization, the Creator Store, and some non-active time arising from tracking and estimation limits. It therefore describes broader platform engagement, not simply hours spent playing games.

DAUs describe account activity; hours engaged estimate time on the platform; bookings and revenue are financial measures. Roblox reported Q2 2026 bookings growth of 8% year over year, which management said was at the low end of its guidance range. Management attributed part of the shortfall to lower per-hour monetization, particularly among younger users in the United States and Canada. That is management’s explanation for monetization performance, not evidence that the DAU change caused it. The Q2 results release discusses the figures and commentary.

Bookings primarily reflect sales of virtual currency, including purchases and subscriptions. Roblox initially records bookings as deferred revenue and recognizes most revenue over an estimated paying-user lifetime or as virtual items are consumed. Its Form 10-Q says the estimated paying-user lifetime was 27 months as of June 30, 2026. Bookings is a non-GAAP measure, and Roblox cautions that it should not be treated as a substitute for GAAP revenue. Because the measures have different definitions and timing, a DAU figure alone does not establish how much revenue or bookings each user generates.

How to read a Roblox DAU comparison
- Check the period: the 123 million figure is an average for Q2 2026, not a current live count.
- Check the basis: DAUs are active registered accounts, not unique people or concurrent users.
- Keep comparisons consistent: year-over-year growth is not the same as movement from the previous quarter.
- Keep the metrics separate: DAUs, hours engaged, bookings, and GAAP revenue answer different questions.
