A familiar vehicle marque, its operating company, a corporate parent and an investor’s stake are different things. A group may contain companies with their own legal identities, and a listed company can sit within a larger group. A joint venture can also have multiple owners, with its stake changing after a transaction. For that reason, ownership summaries should specify the company or group involved and distinguish completed changes from older arrangements.
