Air Canada’s November 6, 2025 Hurricane Melissa exception applied to qualifying tickets for travel to, from, or through Montego Bay or Kingston, Jamaica. Tickets had to be bought by October 28, and the original trip had to fall between October 31 and November 15, 2025. The change window ended November 30, 2025, so this was a historical exception—not a waiver travelers can claim now.
Who qualified under Air Canada’s November 6 notice?
The exception covered travelers scheduled to travel to, from, or through Montego Bay (MBJ) or Kingston (KIN), Jamaica, if both the ticket-purchase cutoff and original travel dates were met. Air Canada published the notice on November 6, 2025. Air Canada’s Hurricane Melissa notice
- The Air Canada ticket had to be purchased on or before October 28, 2025.
- The original travel date had to be between October 31 and November 15, 2025.
- The itinerary had to include travel to, from, or through MBJ or KIN.
Meeting those criteria allowed an eligible customer to change dates through November 30, 2025, subject to availability in the cabin originally purchased. Air Canada said a fare difference could otherwise apply, so “no change fee” did not guarantee that every replacement itinerary would cost the same total fare. The stated deadline has passed.
What did the notice offer for changes and cancellations?
Voluntary date changes
Eligible travelers could retrieve their booking and select another travel date through November 30, 2025. The replacement had to be available in the originally purchased cabin, and any applicable fare difference remained payable.

The Melissa-specific dates ended in 2025. Air Canada’s general hurricane and tropical-storm policy is a separate framework: it applies when the airline posts an advisory on its Daily Travel Outlook, and its terms depend on whether travel has started. The current policy page describes waived applicable change fees for affected trips that have not started, date changes up to and including 14 days after the original departure without a fare difference, and destination changes with a fare difference. For trips already underway, it describes waived applicable change or cancellation fees, an early return subject to availability, or a Future Travel Credit. The page says it applies to flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express (Jazz and PAL Aviation). Consult the live policy and notice for the specific disruption rather than assuming these general terms recreate the expired Melissa exception. Air Canada’s hurricane and tropical storm policy

For an active disruption, check Air Canada Travel News and Updates and the current hurricane policy, then use the contact route for the original booking channel. The October 25, 2025 release from Sangster International Airport listed Air Canada extra sections that day and cancellations for October 25–28, and urged passengers to contact their airline for current flight information. That operational notice helps explain the disruption but does not establish whether an individual ticket qualified for Air Canada’s later exception. MBJ Airports Limited’s October 25 advisory
