The Assam Public Service Commission’s 2024 recruitment for Assistant Director posts under SCERT was a historical vacancy linked to Advertisement No. 21/2024. The application window has closed: secondary reports give 3 November 2024 as the application deadline and 5 November 2024 as the fee-payment deadline. The available eligibility summaries conflict, so the original APSC advertisement—not a secondary summary—is needed to confirm who qualified.
What was the APSC Assistant Director recruitment?
The notice concerned Assistant Director posts in the Directorate of SCERT, Assam, in the Assistant Professor rank category. Jagran Josh identified it as Advertisement No. 21/2024. This is an Assam Public Service Commission recruitment, not an unrelated Assistant Director notice from another state’s public service commission.
Scroll.in reported 19 vacancies and online applications. These are historical details, not an indication that applications remain open.
What were the application dates?
| Milestone | Reported date | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Applications opened | 4 October 2024 | Reported by Jagran Josh. |
| Application deadline | 3 November 2024 | Reported by Jagran Josh and Scroll.in. |

The recruitment is closed. Do not use an old application link as a current application route; check the APSC website for any later notice, correction, or outcome.

What were the eligibility requirements?
The accessible secondary summaries do not agree, and the official Advertisement No. 21/2024 PDF could not be verified. Jagran Josh described a postgraduate degree in performing arts (music, dance, or theatre arts) with at least 55%, or a postgraduate degree in fine arts/visual art with at least 55%. It also listed NET/SLET/Ph.D., one year of illustration experience in textbooks or curriculum at NCERT, SCERT, or an equivalent organization, and at least five years’ teaching experience in an elementary or secondary school, SCERT, or a teacher-education institution.
A separate APSC-focused page instead summarized the qualification as a master’s degree in education or a related field with 55%, described a Ph.D. as preferred, and referred to five years’ experience in teaching or administration. These descriptions are materially different and should not be combined into a definitive checklist.

That second page also listed Indian citizenship, Assam permanent residency, an age range of 21–38 as of 1 January 2024, Assam employment-exchange registration, residence proof, a small-family declaration, and category age relaxations. Those particulars have not been confirmed against the accessible official notice.
Anyone checking whether they qualified should consult the original APSC advertisement and any corrigendum. The exact discipline, marks threshold, research or eligibility test requirement, relevant experience, age cutoff, residency conditions, and relaxations must come from that notice.

What were the reported pay and application fees?
These figures are secondary-source reports and should be treated as historical, not as verified current terms. Jagran Josh reported pay of ₹30,000–₹1,10,000, Grade Pay ₹13,900, Pay Band 4. Scroll.in reported the following application fees:
| Applicant category | Reported fee | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| General | ₹297.20 | Scroll.in, as reported for this 2024 recruitment. |
| SC/ST/OBC/MOBC | ₹197.20 | Scroll.in, as reported for this 2024 recruitment. |
| BPL and PwBD | ₹47.20 | Scroll.in, as reported for this 2024 recruitment. |
Check the official notification for the authoritative pay wording and fee schedule; the figures above are not independently confirmed from the advertisement.

How could candidates apply, and what happened next?
Secondary reports said applications were submitted online through the APSC recruitment site. That route is not a live application option for this closed recruitment. For any later developments, use official APSC notices rather than assuming the 2024 application process is still available.
An APSC-focused third-party page described a written examination, interview, and document verification. The accessible official notice was not available to confirm that sequence, so treat it as that page’s account rather than a verified selection schedule.

Where can you check the notification?
Search the official Assam Public Service Commission notices for Advertisement No. 21/2024, Assistant Director, SCERT, and check for subsequent corrigenda or result notices. The official PDF link identified in the secondary coverage could not be confirmed as accessible; a notice hosted by APSC is the controlling source for eligibility, fees, pay, and selection details.
