Both figures come from Celebrity Net Worth, not verified contracts or network disclosures, and they refer to different periods. They do not establish either host’s total earnings or fortune.
How much does Drew Carey earn on The Price Is Right?
Celebrity Net Worth reports that Carey earns $12.5 million per year hosting the CBS game show. The estimate page was updated July 24, 2026. The source does not provide a publicly verified contract figure, so the amount should be treated as a published estimate rather than confirmed pay. Celebrity Net Worth’s Drew Carey estimate
How does that compare with Bob Barker’s reported salary?
Celebrity Net Worth says Barker earned $10 million per year during the final decade of his run. The reviewed page does not state a publication date alongside that salary claim. On the two published annual estimates alone, Carey’s reported figure is higher by $2.5 million a year; this is not a verified, like-for-like comparison of the hosts’ contracts. Celebrity Net Worth’s Bob Barker estimate
| Host and period | Published annual estimate | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Drew Carey, current hosting estimate | $12.5 million per year | Celebrity Net Worth; page updated July 24, 2026; not a publicly verified contract figure. |
| Bob Barker, final decade on the show | $10 million per year | Celebrity Net Worth; publication date for this specific claim not stated on the reviewed page; not a publicly verified contract figure. |
The available figures are annual estimates from different periods. The sources do not establish equivalent contract terms or provide an inflation-adjusted comparison, so the difference should not be read as a measure of how much more Carey earned in comparable dollars or over an equivalent stretch of time.

Why the salary estimates do not show who made a bigger fortune
An annual hosting estimate is not the same as lifetime earnings, net worth, or an estate accounting. The available figures do not establish comparable career totals for Carey and Barker, and they do not show what either host earned from other work, spent, invested, or retained. It is therefore more accurate to say the published estimates put Carey’s annual hosting salary above Barker’s reported final-decade salary than to conclude that Carey made a larger fortune overall.
When did Carey replace Barker?
Barker hosted the CBS daytime version from 1972 until his retirement in 2007. Carey took over that year, and his first episode as host aired October 15, 2007, according to TV Insider. The Television Academy describes the format as a daytime game show in which contestants estimate retail prices, play pricing games, and compete in a Showcase Showdown.
