BPSSC Advertisement 04/2025 offered 25 Assistant Superintendent posts for eligible ex-servicemen who served as Army, Navy or Air Force JCOs/NCOs. Applications ran from 31 August to 30 September 2025, so the recruitment is closed. It was not a general Assistant Superintendent vacancy open to all applicants.

What was the BPSSC Assistant Superintendent recruitment?

The Bihar Police Sub-Ordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) advertised 25 Assistant Superintendent, Ex-Servicemen (JCO/NCO) posts in the Inspectorate of Prison and Correctional Services, Home Department (Prison), Government of Bihar. The posts carried Pay Level 5. The controlling document for the initial terms is BPSSC Advertisement 04/2025.

BPSSC’s recruitment listing identifies a corrigendum dated 2 September 2025, but its contents could not be verified. For any disputed detail or a question about whether the original terms were changed, consult the complete advertisement and corrigendum through the official listing rather than relying on a summary.

Were applications still open?

No. The online application period opened on 31 August 2025 and closed on 30 September 2025. BPSSC subsequently listed preliminary-exam notices and admit-card information in November 2025, confirming that the process had moved beyond applications. The 2025 application window cannot be used to apply now.

Who was eligible under the notice?

Military service and rank

The notice was for Indian ex-servicemen who had served as junior commissioned officers (JCOs) or non-commissioned officers (NCOs) in the Army, Navy or Air Force. Men and women could apply. Serving personnel due to retire before the application deadline could also apply under the notice’s terms.

Education

The standard educational requirement was graduation or an equivalent examination recognized by the state. The notice also provided an exception for matriculate ex-servicemen with 15 years of continuous service in the armed forces who held the specified service graduation certificate. Applicants needed to match their credentials to the exact wording and documentation requirements in the official notice.

Age and reservation

The maximum age was 50 years, calculated as of 1 August 2025. Reservation benefits applied to Bihar residents, and the advertisement included additional category provisions. The applicable category and domicile conditions depend on the full notice and state rules; do not assume that a reservation provision applies without checking those requirements.

What was the selection process and exam pattern?

The selection involved two multiple-choice written stages. Candidates below 30% in the preliminary examination were disqualified from the mains. A wrong answer attracted a deduction of 0.2 marks in each written stage.

After the written examinations, shortlisted candidates were to undergo certificate checks, followed by medical examination and character and antecedent verification. The notice stated that ex-servicemen would take the medical examination and were not required to take a physical efficiency test.

What did the application require?

The application was online, and the notice allowed only one application per candidate. The fee was ₹100 for every category and gender; bank charges could be additional. Applicants were instructed to provide accurate information, upload the specified recent photograph and signatures, complete payment and retain the acknowledgement. The advertisement said the deadline would not be extended.

  2. Complete the online form with the required personal, service, education, age and category information.

What should interested candidates do now?

Applicants who already participated should use BPSSC’s official recruitment listing for notices relating to the examination and later stages. Anyone looking for a current opening should check the commission’s latest advertisements rather than treating Advertisement 04/2025 as active. No applicant-total or selection-rate figure is established here, so competition should not be inferred from the vacancy count alone.
