The 2026 Toyota Highlander gas XLE has a published U.S. launch MSRP of $45,270, and AWD is standard on every gas model. The hybrid XLE’s published launch MSRP is $47,020; Toyota says AWD is standard on hybrid grades, too. Both prices exclude Toyota’s Dealer Processing and Handling fee, and neither is an out-the-door price.
What does the 2026 Highlander cost?
Toyota Motor North America announced the prices on September 5, 2025. The $45,270 figure is the starting MSRP for the gas XLE, not a price for every Highlander grade. The hybrid XLE starts at $47,020 MSRP. Toyota’s announcement excludes the Dealer Processing and Handling fee from both figures and does not provide a complete price list for all grades. Toyota’s announcement said the lineup was expected to begin arriving at U.S. dealerships in November 2025.
These are manufacturer’s suggested retail prices published at launch, not dealer transaction prices. The announcement does not establish current inventory, local discounts, or the final amount a buyer would pay. Check a dealer’s current listing and ask for an itemized out-the-door quote, including applicable fees and taxes, before comparing offers.
Is AWD standard on every 2026 Highlander?
Yes. Toyota says AWD is standard across the gas lineup, and all hybrid grades use Electronic On-Demand AWD. The system differs by powertrain and, for gas models, by grade.

What changes between gas and hybrid?
Price is one difference, but the powertrains also have different manufacturer-reported fuel economy and towing figures. These are Toyota’s figures in its 2025 announcement, not independent test results.

The hybrid XLE’s published launch MSRP is $1,750 higher than the gas XLE’s. Whether that premium makes financial sense depends on factors such as how much you drive, fuel costs, and the actual price offered locally; Toyota’s announcement does not provide a total-cost-of-ownership comparison.

How many grades and seats are available?
Toyota lists four gas grades—XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum—and three hybrid grades—XLE, Limited, and Platinum. Three-row seating accommodates up to seven. An optional second-row bench, available on the gas or hybrid XLE and the gas Limited, raises capacity to as many as eight. Toyota reports up to 84.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the second and third rows folded.

- Confirm whether the quote is for a gas or hybrid XLE; the published launch MSRPs are different.
- Ask for a written, itemized out-the-door price. The announced MSRPs exclude Toyota’s Dealer Processing and Handling fee and do not include dealer-specific transaction information.
- Match the powertrain to your needs: Toyota’s estimated combined MPG is higher for the hybrid, while its stated maximum towing capacity is higher for gas models.
- Verify that the advertised vehicle is in stock and that the quoted price applies to its exact grade and equipment.
