There is no evidence-based universal “best” processor for travel agencies: the right fit depends on what you sell, where you operate, when customers pay, and whether a provider will underwrite your exact business. This U.S.-oriented shortlist separates travel-focused merchant-account providers from general processors and larger payments platforms. Treat it as a starting point for written quotes—not as confirmation that any provider will approve your agency or offer the terms described.
How to read this shortlist
Travel bookings can be paid for well before a trip is delivered. That gap can expose a merchant or acquirer to refunds and disputes if a trip is canceled or not provided, so a provider may assess the agency’s booking lead time, cancellation policy, ticket size, and sales history when deciding whether and how to approve it. A rolling reserve, when imposed, holds back a portion of processing funds to cover potential future chargebacks or merchant default; its percentage and release schedule are contract terms, not universal travel-industry rules.
The travel-provider details below are reported by myPayAdvisor’s 2026 comparison, rather than verified offers. Stripe, Square, and PayPal rates are their published U.S. pricing, not travel-specific quotes or evidence of eligibility. The broader platform names come from an industry vendor directory whose core-processing panel is marked December 8, 2025; inclusion in a directory does not establish agency fit, endorsement, or current availability. Confirm every material detail with the provider.
The list is organized by likely use case, not ranked by approval odds or service quality. No comparable independent data establishes which provider has the best approval rate, reserve outcomes, dispute performance, or support.

Travel-focused merchant-account providers
These four names are identified as travel-focused options in the myPayAdvisor comparison. Their actual pricing, availability, and underwriting are subject to the agency’s circumstances and a provider’s decision.
1. Durango Merchant Services
myPayAdvisor’s 2026 guide reports a published discount-rate range of 1.95%–4.95%, a rolling-reserve range of 0%–10%, and a stated U.S. monthly minimum of $5,000. These are third-party guide figures, not a quote; ask Durango to confirm the applicable rate, minimum, reserve duration and release terms, and all other fees for your business.
2. PaymentCloud
The same guide reports that PaymentCloud offers multiple gateway options and may require an ARC bond or IATA certificate for airfare sellers. Ask which gateway supports your booking workflow and whether your specific airfare activity requires those credentials. The guide does not establish a current rate or approval outcome.

3. Soar Payments

Confirm that requirement directly if you sell air travel, along with the provider’s other documentation, fees, reserve policy, and settlement schedule. The guide does not establish a current rate or approval outcome.

4. PayCompass
myPayAdvisor reports a typical travel fee range of 3%–5% and describes multi-currency processing and virtual cards. Treat the range and features as guide-reported claims: request a written breakdown of the full fee structure, supported currencies, reserve terms, and the availability of each feature for your agency and location.
General-purpose processors
These services publish general payment features and U.S. rates. Their published pages do not establish that they will approve every travel agency or maintain an account through seasonal volume changes.

| Processor | Published U.S. pricing and terms | Relevant features or caveats |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | 2.9% + 30¢ for a successful domestic online card payment; manually entered cards add 0.5%, international cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds 1%. The listed dispute-received fee is $15; the listed manual dispute-countered fee is $15 and is returned for a won dispute. | Rates and fees are from Stripe’s U.S. pricing page, accessed October 7, 2026. Confirm your account’s region and any custom pricing. |
| Square | 2.9% + 30¢ for online payments and 2.6% + 15¢ for in-person payments; Square’s comparison lists no chargeback fee. | Square’s comparison lists POS hardware and payment links. The rates and feature claims are from Square’s own comparison, accessed October 7, 2026, and may change. |
| PayPal | Advanced Credit and Debit Card Payments: 2.89% plus a currency-specific fixed fee. Virtual Terminal: 3.39% plus a currency-specific fixed fee. PayPal lists an additional 1.50% percentage for many international card transactions. | Figures are from PayPal’s U.S. fee page, accessed October 7, 2026. PayPal says it may, after notice, raise percentage components by up to 5.00% per transaction in certain listed risk circumstances. Confirm current fees, eligibility, and the applicable service agreement. |
5. Stripe
Consider Stripe if its online payment tools and integration options fit the agency’s booking system and the provider confirms the business model is eligible. Its listed pricing and dispute fees are shown above. Stripe’s merchant-services guide, last updated July 2, 2026, says that “Authorization happens at the moment of purchase” when explaining the transaction sequence; authorization at purchase does not itself settle questions about travel-business underwriting or later disputes.
6. Square
Square may be worth evaluating when an agency needs online payment links as well as in-person acceptance. Its comparison says Square handles PCI compliance for its software, while Stripe members must complete annual PCI validation. These are claims from Square’s own comparison; confirm the obligations that apply to your setup. A card reader is only relevant if your account and device are compatible and you actually take card-present payments.

7. PayPal
PayPal offers both online card acceptance and a Virtual Terminal option, but the latter has its own published rate, shown above. Before relying on it for travel bookings, verify eligibility, how your payment channel will be classified, and the terms in the service agreement.

Broader payment platforms to investigate
The following four providers appear in an industry vendor landscape’s core-processing panel, marked version December 8, 2025. The directory is useful for identifying names to investigate, but it does not provide comparable agency-specific quotes or prove that a provider is appropriate for a particular travel seller. Ask each provider whether it currently supports your country, business model, and booking workflow.
8. Worldpay
Worldpay announced on November 20, 2024, a Mastercard Wholesale Program intended to provide virtual cards to travel agents in the UK. The announcement says Worldpay supports more than 130 airlines and “the top three agencies,” but the release excerpt does not make the geographic scope of that latter claim fully clear. Treat this as a dated vendor claim and confirm whether the program is currently available to your agency.
9. Adyen
Adyen is named in the directory’s core-processing panel. The directory alone does not establish travel-agency acceptance, pricing, reserve terms, or a booking-system integration. Request confirmation and a proposal specific to your operation.

10. Nuvei
Nuvei is also named in that directory. Its listing is not evidence of travel-specific suitability or current terms; verify the provider’s supported countries, agency underwriting, payment channels, and fees directly.
11. Worldline
Worldline appears in the same panel, but the directory does not supply comparable travel-agency pricing or underwriting details. Treat it as a lead to qualify rather than a confirmed option for your business.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to compare before applying
Headline transaction rates alone do not show what an agency will pay or how long it may wait for funds. Compare the complete written proposal and contract against the way the business sells and delivers travel.
Quick Recap
- Eligibility and documentation: Confirm that the provider accepts your exact activity—such as a travel agency, tour operator, online travel agency, or airfare seller—in every country where you operate. Ask whether ARC, IATA, supplier, or other documentation is required.
- Reserve and payouts: Get the reserve percentage, what transactions it applies to, the release schedule, settlement timing, and any circumstances that can delay or change payouts in writing.
- Full cost: Compare online, keyed, and card-present rates; international-card and currency-conversion charges; per-transaction and dispute fees; gateway costs; monthly fees or minimums; and any other recurring charges. A published general rate is not a travel quote.
- Contract risk: Review the term, renewal provisions, early-termination costs, account-closure terms, and how held funds are handled after termination.
- Disputes and refunds: Ask what dispute tools and support are available, how evidence is submitted, and what the provider expects for cancellations, refunds, and customer communication.
- Workflow fit: Confirm compatibility with your booking and accounting systems, payment links, virtual terminal, gateway, and any in-person equipment you need. Keyed, online, and in-person transactions may be treated differently.
- Service and timing: Ask who handles escalation, how to contact support, and what application or implementation timeline the provider can actually commit to.
A practical way to choose
- Write down your profile: Record sales countries, products sold, airfare credentials, booking lead time, average and maximum ticket, cancellation and refund policy, payment channels, processing history, disputes, booking integrations, and seasonal volume.
- Screen for underwriting fit: Ask each candidate to confirm in writing that it accepts your specific business model and products before spending time on a full application.
- Request comparable proposals: Give each provider the same profile and ask for written rates, reserves and release schedules, settlement timing, all fees, gateway costs, contract terms, and required documents.
- Compare total operating impact: Evaluate the cost and cash-flow effect of fees, delayed settlements, or held funds alongside the workflow and dispute tools—not just the discount rate.
- Verify volatile terms before signing: Published rates, product features, and program availability can change. Check the current fee page or contract and resolve any mismatch with the provider before accepting the account.
