No car is guaranteed to last its owner’s lifetime, but some luxury models have stronger evidence of long-term durability than others. For U.S. shoppers, Lexus and Acura are good places to start: iSeeCars estimates that 14.4% of Lexus vehicles and 9.5% of Acura vehicles reach 250,000 miles, compared with 3.4% of luxury vehicles overall. Those brand-level odds are useful context—not a prediction for any one car. Model year, maintenance, use and condition still matter.
What “reliable” and “long-lasting” mean in these rankings
The ten candidates below draw on three different kinds of evidence. They answer related but distinct questions, so their figures should not be combined into a single score.
- Long-term mileage: iSeeCars analyzed more than 395 million cars, calculated average odometer readings by vehicle age and used a proprietary model to estimate the chance of reaching mileage milestones. Its 2026 brand analysis estimates the probability of reaching 250,000 miles, weighting model and generation estimates by how common they are on the road. See the iSeeCars methodology and results.
- Unexpected repairs: CARFAX used U.S. maintenance records to estimate five-year unexpected-repair likelihood for 2019–2023 models. Its separate “still on the road” figure tracks the share of a model line remaining on the road since its earliest model year shown; it is not a 20-year survival rate for every vehicle. See CARFAX’s 2026 luxury-car ranking.
- Owner-reported problems: J.D. Power’s 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study covers 184 problem areas in nine categories. It surveyed 33,268 original owners of 2023-model-year vehicles after three years and reports problems per 100 vehicles (PP100); lower is better. Read the study announcement.
These measures describe brands, model lines or specific recent-year cohorts—not the maintenance history or hidden condition of an individual used car.
10 luxury cars with evidence of durability
CARFAX’s 2026 figures below compare average unexpected-repair likelihood for 2019–2023 models with a 9.0% segment average. The on-road figure is CARFAX’s share of the model line still on the road since its earliest model year shown. Neither number is a chance that a particular car will reach a particular mileage.

How to choose among the ten
If long mileage is the priority
Start with the brand-level evidence, but use it as a screening tool rather than a promise. In iSeeCars’ 2026 analysis, Lexus had a 14.4% estimated chance of reaching 250,000 miles and Acura 9.5%, versus 3.4% for luxury brands overall. The analysis combines estimates across models and generations according to how common they are on the road; it does not establish the probability for each car in the table. Read the model-year notes and check the individual vehicle’s records before deciding.
Rank #2
- Home collection car model, gift selection.
- The door, hood & trunk can be opened with sound & light.
- Zinc alloy, ABS plastic parts, rubber tires.
- SUV car model 1:32 scale.
- Size approx 16.5cm *6.5cm*7cm, weight approx 380g.
If you want a sedan
Compare the Lexus IS and Acura TLX. The IS has the lower CARFAX repair-likelihood estimate in the 2019–2023 cohort and was J.D. Power’s top overall model in the 2026 VDS. The TLX has a higher CARFAX estimate but a larger share of its line still on the road since its introduction. Those figures cannot determine which specific car is the better buy: condition, price, service history and the generation you are considering can change the calculation.
If you want an SUV
The list includes compact and larger options, as well as performance-oriented models. Compare the Acura RDX, Lexus UX, Lexus GX, Infiniti QX50, BMW X3 and Porsche Macan for the space, capability and driving character you need. Their repair figures alone do not account for purchase price, running costs, vehicle size or the needs of your household. CARFAX’s model-year observations are particularly useful for narrowing the years to inspect.

If you are considering a plug-in hybrid
J.D. Power reported 281 problems per 100 plug-in hybrids versus 198 per 100 gas vehicles in its 2026 study. This is a powertrain-wide owner-reported finding, not a verdict on every luxury hybrid or a measure of the odds of a major repair. Check the exact vehicle’s reliability record, warranty coverage and service history rather than applying the category average to one model.
What broader dependability data says
J.D. Power found 204 problems per 100 vehicles across the industry after three years. Premium vehicles averaged 217 PP100—17 more than the industry average. Among brands in the study, Lexus recorded 151 PP100, Cadillac 175 and Porsche 182. These are brand-level owner-reported problem counts, not repair probabilities or lifetime-mileage figures. A lower PP100 indicates fewer reported problems in the study’s covered areas.

How to evaluate a specific used luxury car
Long-term ownership depends on the particular vehicle as well as its reputation. Before buying, use the ranking as one input and investigate the car in front of you.
- Identify the exact model year and generation. A model name can span major changes. Use CARFAX’s year-specific notes to flag transitions, refreshes and years with reported dips; do not assume every generation shares the same results.
- Review maintenance and repair records. Look for regular, documented service and investigate gaps, repeated repairs or warning lights. A model-line statistic cannot show whether a previous owner skipped maintenance.
- Arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection. Ask a qualified mechanic familiar with the make to assess wear, leaks, electronics, accident repairs and any concerns specific to that model. Request written findings and estimates for work needed.
- Check open recalls by vehicle identification number. Confirm whether any safety recalls remain unresolved and ask for documentation that completed recall work was performed.
- Confirm warranty coverage and likely ownership costs. Verify what coverage applies to this vehicle, including its expiration, mileage limits and exclusions. Compare expected maintenance and repair costs with your budget, not just the purchase price.
- Compare condition and records before comparing rank. A well-documented, carefully inspected car may be a better choice than a higher-ranked example with uncertain history or costly needs.
Warranty and scheduled maintenance context
For U.S. Lexus vehicles, Lexus says new vehicles include the first and second scheduled maintenance services and a four-year/50,000-mile new-vehicle limited warranty. Hybrid models have a ten-year/150,000-mile hybrid-battery warranty. These are stated for new vehicles; verify current terms, eligibility and applicability to the specific vehicle with LexusCare. Warranty coverage is not evidence that a used vehicle has been maintained or is free of defects.
