Boxster, Cayman and Macan models are sensible Porsche families to include when a 911 is beyond your budget—but the available evidence does not support naming ten specific models or giving them verified 2025 prices. Instead, use this guide to identify where to look and how to judge whether a used Porsche is genuinely affordable, not merely inexpensive to buy.
Why a ten-model 2025 list would be misleading
The available sources do not verify ten model-year-and-trim selections or their asking-price ranges in 2025. A later Car and Driver article, published May 6, 2026, frames used Porsches under $60,000 as options for shoppers who cannot stretch to a 911. That is a 2026 editorial ceiling, not evidence of a 2025 market threshold or of what any particular car cost then. Car and Driver’s used-Porsche affordability guide is useful for broad shopping context, but it cannot substantiate a retrospective ten-car price list.
For perspective, Car and Driver lists the 2025 718 Boxster with a $55,900 starting price. That is a new-car starting-price reference, not a used-car valuation or evidence of what used Boxsters sold for in 2025. See its 2025 718 Boxster overview.
Which used Porsche families belong on your shortlist?
Boxster and 718 Boxster
A Boxster is a two-seat roadster to consider if open-top driving matters more than carrying extra passengers or cargo. Car and Driver describes the 2025 718 Boxster as balanced, powerful and usable; that assessment concerns the new model, not every used year or trim. Compare the exact year, equipment, mileage and condition of any used example.

Cayman and 718 Cayman
The Cayman is the coupe counterpart to consider if you want a two-seat Porsche without a convertible roof. Car and Driver’s 2026 affordability article includes Cayman models among possible alternatives for shoppers priced out of a 911. That makes the family worth comparing, but it does not establish that every Cayman is inexpensive or that a particular year is a bargain.
Macan
The Macan is the SUV option among the three families highlighted in Car and Driver’s broad used-Porsche affordability discussion. Its more practical body style may suit buyers who need space beyond a two-seat sports car. Evaluate each vehicle on its own service record, condition and equipment; the available sources do not establish a comparative reliability or repair-cost ranking.

Other models appearing in used listings
Car and Driver’s used-Porsche inventory page includes the 911, Cayenne, Panamera, Taycan, Boxster, 718 Cayman, 718 Boxster, Cayman, 944, 968, 928 and 924. This is a range of models appearing in listings, not a list of proven low-cost choices. Older enthusiast cars and larger or electric models may have very different ownership needs, and listing presence alone does not show that a car is affordable to maintain. Check the used-Porsche listings, bearing in mind that inventory and asking prices change.
How to tell whether a used Porsche is actually affordable
An asking price is only one part of the decision. Hagerty notes that a vehicle’s estimated value can vary with condition, mileage, options and history. Its 2025 Cayman valuation page also identifies poor maintenance history, visible wear, accident or damage, title issues and gaps in ownership history as relevant considerations. Use estimates to compare genuinely similar cars, rather than treating a broad model name or an attractive listing price as a value verdict. See Hagerty’s 2025 Cayman valuation information.
Rank #3
- Scale: 1: 24.
- Length 179 mm.
- Match the comparison: Compare the same model year and trim where possible, with similar mileage, condition and equipment.
- Read the history: Request a vehicle-history report and check for accident or damage, title problems and gaps in ownership or service records. A report is one check, not a substitute for inspecting the car.
- Assess condition: Look for visible wear and signs that maintenance has been neglected. Have a qualified professional assess the specific vehicle before you commit.
- Budget beyond the purchase: The cited sources do not provide comparable repair-cost estimates or reliability rankings, so do not assume a lower purchase price means lower ownership costs.
Where to compare current inventory and values
For current asking prices, treat listing sites as snapshots of available inventory, not as average transaction prices or historical price guides. Record the date you check listings, then compare cars with similar year, trim, mileage, condition and equipment. A live “starting at” figure can change as stock changes and should not be used to reconstruct what the market looked like in 2025.
Hagerty’s valuation tools can help estimate a vehicle’s value, but the result depends on the details of the car and should be compared against equivalent examples. If you want to check stock at authorized Porsche centers, Porsche Finder searches new and used inventory; availability changes. Porsche’s current U.S. lineup overview lists the 718, 911, Taycan, Panamera, Macan and Cayenne families, which is current lineup context rather than evidence of 2025 availability or affordability. View Porsche’s U.S. model lineup.
